Radhe Radhe ! Today is Rath-Yatra. And what is Rath if we don't offer Jagannath-goja to our Deities ? How is it different from the regular Bengalee khasta goja, you ask ? Well, this si extra thick, extra scrumptitious and extra tasty !
Preparation Time: 2 hours
200 g flour
4 teaspoon ghee
A pinch of salt
Water for kneading
Oil for frying as required
50 g flour ( for rolling )
4 teaspoon ghee ( for rolling )
For the syrup:
200 g sugar
3 cups water
For the sugar syrup:
Make a syrup with sugar and 3 cups water. Boil till it gets a three string consistency.
For the dough:
Make a fairly stiff dough with flour, ghee, salt and water as required.
Divide it into 4 portions.
Make a big roti with each portion. Spread some ghee over it and then sprinkle some flour and roll it up.
Now cut the roll in about 1 - inch slices and roll it up with the rolling pin to make the shape of an oblong puri.
Spread some ghee on this puri, PLace another similar puri on it. In this manner place a total of 4 puris. Now roll them tightly. Cut into 1 inch pieces, and roll out each piece with a rolling pin.
Heat oil in a wide kadai and deep fry in batches on a low heat until golden color.
Dip them in sugar syrup for a minute and take out. You may store them in an air-tight container for 2 or 3 days, and offer to your Thakurjis.
