rila Kavir\u00e2j Gosw\u00e2mip\u00e2d says, Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni swooned in grief when Sri Krishna disappeared from Her view. Then the sakhis<\/em> brought Her back with their loving expressions. Srimati asked them with great eagerness about Her beloved. Sri Lil\u00e2shuk has echoed Her words in this verse. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni said \u2013 O sakhi<\/em>! When will Sri Krishna reappear, and like before, send me to the sanket\u2013kunja<\/em> with the nectarine strain of His flute, and thus break my sam\u00e2dhi<\/em>?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A ras<\/em>-explanation of \u2018sam\u00e2dhi<\/em>\u2019.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Sam\u00e2dhi<\/em>\u2019 = sam<\/em> + \u00e2dhi<\/em>. \u2018sam\u2019<\/em> means \u2018all\u2019 and \u2018\u00e2dhi\u2019<\/em> means mental stress. Due to His disappearance, I am suffering from huge mental stress. When will He return and destroy this pain? He may appear before me, since He is an ocean of mercy. We are sure to obtain Him because He is merciful. He will surely fulfil my expectation. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The inner meaning is, Lil\u00e2shuk said in sakhi<\/em>\u2013bh\u00e2v<\/em> – when will Sri Krishna send Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2 to the kunja <\/em>by playing His nectarine flute with a face as radiant as the joyful moon and thus rid me of my mental stress? <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the s\u00e2dhak<\/em> state, he is praying when Sri Krishna will disturb my sam\u00e2dhi <\/em>with the nectarine strain of His flute? This is the success of a Mah\u00e2yogi\u2019s<\/span>[1]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> Mah\u00e2yog<\/em><\/span><\/span>[2]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>. If Shy\u00e2m\u2013ch\u00e2nd (the Moon\u2013face of Shy\u00e2m) does not arise in our sky-like heart, then what is the use of taking the trouble to perform any s\u00e2dhan\u00e2?<\/em> <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Explanation of \u2018Yogash<\/em> \u2013 chitta \u2013 vritti \u2013 nirodhah\u2019<\/em> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Yog\u2019 is defined as obstructing all the tendencies of the sub-conscious mind. We call its top most stage as \u2018sam\u00e2dhi<\/em>\u2019. If, after reaching that top most stage we are full of emptiness, and we always keep feeling something is lacking, then why should we take so much trouble to practice any s\u00e2dhan\u00e2 <\/em>at all?<\/strong> Sam\u00e2dhi<\/em> is the stage when the mind is totally under our control and the object of meditation only is visible to the mind\u2019s eye. It is of two types \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a9 <\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2018sampragy\u00e2ta<\/em>\u2019 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a9 <\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2018asampragy\u00e2ta<\/em>\u2019. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\u2018Sampragy\u00e2ta\u2019 sam\u00e2dhi<\/span><\/em> is the first stage. In this the yogi stops the strong material tendencies of his heart. The next stage is \u2018asampragy\u00e2ta\u2019 sam\u00e2dhi<\/em> \u2013 wherein the s\u00e2dhak<\/em> has to resort to vair\u00e2gya<\/em>, stop each and every subtle thought and control the conscious and subconscious mind completely. In this stage, the sub-conscious mind is made devoid of materialism by practicing very hard. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

However, after giving up all and losing consciousness of all that is material, if at the zenith of our s\u00e2dhan\u00e2 <\/em>we do not get darshan<\/em> of the precious lotus\u2013feet of Govinda, we still lack that topmost sweetest pleasure – then why should we take so much trouble?<\/strong> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If the nectarine, sweet, mesmerizing strain of the flute cannot break our eternal deep sam\u00e2dhi \u2013 if the closed eyes of the Mah\u00e2yogi immersed in meditation cannot open and see (when the meditation breaks) the form of Sri Govinda with a face as radiant as the joyful moon, with His lotus\u2013eyes and flute, then what is the use of that sam\u00e2dhi?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The Mah\u00e2yogi receives the fruit of his eternal s\u00e2dhan\u00e2<\/em> only when, out of the blue, suddenly the sweet resonance of the mesmerizing murali<\/em><\/span><\/span>[3]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> enters through his ears and floods his heart with cascades of Nectar and he sees that face as radiant as the joyful moon. <\/span>The goal of our life is not to lose all consciousness, but to destroy material awareness and completely experience the form of Sri Govinda Who is full of beauty and sweetness and is the<\/strong> essence of bliss.<\/strong> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Srila Bhatta Gosw\u00e2mip\u00e2d says – if the witty repartee of Sri Krishna with the Vraja-Gopis<\/em> is in the form of flute\u2013notes, then it will surely be supremely alluring. May I spend my entire life immersed in the sam\u00e2dhi<\/em> of hearing those melodious notes of the flute, which is an empire of supreme bliss. O Ocean of Mercy! O Krishna! When will You take pity on me and disturb my sam\u00e2dhi<\/em> with the notes of the flute that are already playing in my innermost heart? <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The strain of the flute announces the R\u00e2s\u2013leel\u00e2<\/em> to the Vraja-Gopis<\/em> and submerges them in bliss \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“It was the full-moon night of Sharad and the breeze blew gently. The gardens were fragrant with flowers such as Mallik\u00e2, M\u00e2lati and Juthi. Buzzing bees were hovering round the flowers as if they were intoxicated. When the mesmerizing Shy\u00e2m saw a night like this, He played the fifth note passionately on the flute that stole the hearts of all self-respecting women. The Gopis<\/em> were full of love and surrendered themselves to Him in their minds. They started going wherever He indicated with the song of His flute. They forgot their homes and even their own bodies. They put kohl only on one eye, wore one bangle and only one earring. Their skirt-strings came loose as the damsels rushed helter-skelter. Their blouses and clothes tore off and their plaits became loosened. However, the sakhis<\/em> did not cross each other\u2019s path. In this manner they all reached Gokulchandra (The moon of Gokul) – thus sings poet Govinda d\u00e2s.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

One more Mah\u00e2jan-poem – <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“The powerful flute played a song so sweet that it puts Amritam<\/em> to shame. It stole the hearts of all the lovely maidens who belong to immaculate lineage. The melody of the flute entered their ears, it beckoned, and called, \u2018come hither\u2019 come hither. When the Gopis<\/em> heard it they were full of bliss.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The precious sukum\u00e2ri[4]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/em>, R\u00e2dh\u00e2, was thrilled and became paralysed with joy. She forgot all household chores. All the damsels told sweetly to R\u00e2i – \u2018There, there, listen! How He plays that song! Oh how it churns the heart! I cannot bear the sound of the flute. It pierces the heart.\u2019 The Vraja\u2013Gopi<\/em>s became crazy while the flute stole their honour.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

How does He, Whose supremely nectarine flute-notes that reveal the ras<\/em> of divine pastime, look? As radiant as the joyful and unblemished moon. May He be actually present in front of us in His supremely blissful form! <\/span>This indicates His extreme mercy and ability to rid us of all stress. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Srila Chaitanyad\u00e2s Gosw\u00e2mi says, when will Sri Krishna, the Ocean of mercy rid us of our sorrow of being unable to attain Him, with the song of His flute? .34.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
