My body is reducing day by day and I will not survive any longer. How much more shall I cry and sing His glory? My life is in peril since I cannot see my beloved. I have no strength to either sit or stand. How many nights shall I spend awake? Where did my Treasure disappear and along with Him all my joy? Who stole my Life away? <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">Never shall I go on the banks of the Yamun\u00e2, never shall I behold Shy\u00e2m beneath the Kadamba. My life is so shameless, it refuses to leave, poet Gy\u00e2na d\u00e2s says &#8211; my heart is shattered on seeing Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2\u2019s plight.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2 is also experiencing \u2018<strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\"><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">gl\u00e2ni<\/em><\/strong><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">\u2019<\/em>. This state is explained with the following example \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">(Lalit\u00e2 imagined a swan to be a messenger and said) \u2013 &#8220;My dear good bird! Please go and tell Sri Krishna in Mathur\u00e2 that Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2, Whose eyes are like the blue lotus, is greatly suffering from the pangs of love and is now lying on the death-bed. The <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakhis <\/em>have stopped all remedies since they are convinced that She will not live any more. But still She cannot give up Your hope. It is this hope that is forcefully keeping Her alive. Hence please do not delay and go quickly to meet Her in Vrind\u00e2van.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: right;\" align=\"right\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">&#8211; [Hamsadoot]<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">Due to \u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">t\u00e2nav<\/em>\u2019 (when one becomes extremely thin) and \u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">gl\u00e2ni<\/em>\u2019 (a near death situation), Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2 has entered a state <strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">\u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">vish\u00e2d<\/em>\u2019<\/strong> (depression) and \u2018<strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\"><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">dainya<\/em><\/strong>\u2019 (humility). This verse indicates that Srimati has fallen on the earth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: &quot;Comic Sans MS&quot;;\">What is \u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">vish\u00e2d\u2019 <\/em>?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">&#8220;When we are unable to obtain a desired object, or are unsuccessful in executing a plan, or face obstacles or have committed an offence, we feel a kind of repentance. This is called \u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">vish\u00e2d<\/em>\u2019.\u201d<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span>&#8211; [B.R.S 2.4.14]<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify; tab-stops: 222.0pt;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">Here is an example of \u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">vish\u00e2d\u2019<\/em> due to the inability to obtain the object of desire \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">(Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2 told Vish\u00e2kh\u00e2 during the state of <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">purva-r\u00e2g<\/em>) \u2013 &#8220;<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Sakhi<\/em>! Today I could neither drink Sri Hari\u2019s nectarine speech nor gaze at His face properly. Alas! After an eternity I had got this beautiful chance! But bad luck came in the form of this old woman (Jatil\u00e2) and stopped me.\u201d<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span>&#8211; [Vidagdha-M\u00e2dhav quoted in U.N.]<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: &quot;Comic Sans MS&quot;;\">What is \u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">dainya<\/em>\u2019?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">&#8220;\u2019Dainya\u2019 is humbleness arising out of sorrow, trouble or offence.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: right;\" align=\"right\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">&#8211; [B.R.S. 2.4.21]<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">U.N. explains \u2018dainya\u2019 further by quoting Sri Bilvamangal Th\u00e2kur \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">&#8220;My darling murali! (flute!) You are the connoisseur of the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em> that blows out from the sweet mouth of Mukunda (Krishna). Hence I pay obeisance unto you and pray \u2013 when you get the rosy lips of Nanda-nandan, please whisper into His ears about my condition.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: right;\" align=\"right\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">&#8211; [U.N. 13.12]<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">This is Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2\u2019s prayer in great humbleness. Now She is fallen on the earth in depression and humility. Her eyes are shut. The <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakhis<\/em> are consoling Her \u2013 &#8220;Dearest R\u00e2dhe! Have patience! Sri Krishna will come just now; You will embrace Him.\u201d Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2 is replying in disappointment. The poet has echoed Her feeling in this verse. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2 is replying, &#8220;Now even if Sri Krishna comes near me, I have no strength to embrace Him. He is the Chief of the Adolescent and my Fortune-incarnate. Yet, leave aside embracing; I won\u2019t even be able to see Him, with my eyes.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">\u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Hanta<\/em>\u2019 indicates depression. What is the reason for depression? I will not be able to see That lotus-eyed Kishor with both my eyes. I would consider myself blessed if I could see Him with the corner of one eye. You may say, Sri Krishna will come just now, take His <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">darshan<\/em>, why do You grieve? But <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakhi<\/em>! I am trying hard to open my eyes, but I can\u2019t. If Sri Krishna comes, what does it matter? I am not fortunate enough to see Him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">In Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam, the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Gopis<\/em> are telling in Venu-geet \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">&#8220;It is worthwhile to have eyes if one can behold Sri Krishna\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: right;\" align=\"right\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\">&#8211; [S. One who does not see that Moon-face, his eyes are useless. May he be struck down with a thunderbolt!
