rila Kavir\u00e2j Gosw\u00e2mi says, once again Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2 has fainted. The sakhis<\/em> are trying to console Her by saying \u2013 \u2018Oyi R\u00e2dhe! Get up! Get up! Look there, Sri Krishna has arrived.\u2019 Srimati sat up, opened Her eyes and looked around, but She could not see Sri Krishna anywhere. Then She spoke to Her sakhis<\/em> in delirium. Sri Lil\u00e2shuk is echoing Her feelings in this verse. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2 told Her sakhis<\/em>. “O sakhis<\/em>! My eyes are searching everywhere for the supremely beautiful Mur\u00e2ri Who has such an enchanting appearance.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sri Bhagav\u00e2n<\/em> is called \u2018Mur\u00e2ri\u2019 because He killed a demon by the name \u2018Moor\u2019. But this explanation is not according to the sweet mood. Hence Srila Kavir\u00e2j Gosw\u00e2mip\u00e2d has presented a beautiful explanation for the name \u2018Mur\u00e2ri\u2019. He says, \u2018Mura\u2019<\/em> means \u2018ugly\u2019 and \u2018ari<\/em>\u2019 means \u2018opposite\u2019, so Mur\u00e2ri means \u2018One Who is not ugly\u2019 or \u2018Supremely Beautiful\u2019!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Srimati said sakhis<\/em>! Please enable me to behold Mur\u00e2ri immediately. How is that Mur\u00e2ri? \u2018bahula-chikura-bharam\u2019<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Whose soft and thick hair is tied into a chud\u00e2<\/em> and it is decorated with peacock-feathers \u2013 an object of temptation for the Gopis<\/em>. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Who tied His hair high into a chud\u00e2<\/em> and adorned it with peacock-feathers? It is a good temptation for the fair sex! Who brought the rainbow down from the sky to adorn the fresh cloud[1]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>? Who put well-knit Mallik\u00e2 and M\u00e2lati garlands around the chud\u00e2<\/em>? It looks like the River Gang\u00e2 flowing around the peak of the Nilgiri Mountain.\u201d \u2013 (Mah\u00e2jan-poem)<\/span><\/p>\n

Kavir\u00e2j Gosw\u00e2mi explains \u2013 \u2018chapala-chapala-netram\u2019<\/em><\/strong> means \u2018chapalan-meen\u00e2dapi-chapale netre yasmin\u2019.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meaning \u2013 “His eyes are more restless than fishes\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Chapal\u2019 <\/span><\/em>also means \u2018fish\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“chapale parede meene iti vishwaat.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meaning \u2013 “Vishwakosh dictionary states that \u2018chapal\u2019<\/em> means mercury, fish <\/strong>etc.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018charu<\/em>–bimba-adhara-oshtham\u2019<\/em><\/span><\/strong> and \u2018madhur-mridula-haram\u2019<\/em><\/strong> means \u2018His beautiful face is resplendent with soft and sweet smile playing on His rosy lips.\u2019 Everything is sweet \u2013 everything is unique \u2013thus captivating the Gopis<\/em>. Poet Gy\u00e2na d\u00e2s has described Sri Krishna\u2019s extremely lovely beauty \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“His hair is adorned with peacock feathers, fresh M\u00e2lati and Mallik\u00e2 flowers, and swarms of honey-bees. How many different varieties of blossoms and buds neatly adorn His hair! Sweetheart, He is the beautiful Shy\u00e2m Kishor. The soft gaze in His rose-tipped eyes soothed my heart.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

His forehead is decorated with a chandan<\/em> crescent that is a delight for a damsel\u2019s eyes. He blows softly into His flute with perked up lips that brings forth sweet notes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Gem-studded ear rings adorn His ears that scatter attractive brilliance all around. Each part of His body is decked with gem-ornaments. Poet Gy\u00e2na d\u00e2s says \u2013 My heart throbs when I see Him in the \u2018tribhanga<\/em>\u2019 pose.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>“How enchanting is Nandakishor! His beauty enthrals the heart and fills it with passion. His body scatters waves abound like dark clouds showering ras<\/em> around. He smilingly plays on the flute like intoxicating nectar oozing from moon-rays. His ivory necklace charms young maidens and He sports arms resembling the trunk of an elephant. Unable to touch Him, women of honour become restless and have no succour. Poet Gy\u00e2na d\u00e2s begs to hear His nectarine speech.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sri Krishna\u2019s appearance is agitating. It is \u2018mand\u00e2ra-udara-lil\u00e2m\u2019<\/em><\/strong>,<\/em> meaning, “Whose Divine pastimes are as magnanimous as the Mand\u00e2r Mountain. The Mand\u00e2r Mountain was used to churn the Ocean of Milk that threw up many gemstones. Similarly He is churning our hearts and is obliterating our gem-like (precious) self-control. Hence His pastimes are very agitating. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During purva<\/em> rag,<\/em> the ambassadress is petitioning to Shy\u00e2msundar about Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2\u2019s impatience \u2013<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“She has lost all laughter and joy; She only wants to lie on the earth. She behaves thus O Hari, ever since She has seen You. She sits alone and glorifies You, and sheds tears with eyes so pretty. Then if any dear sakhi<\/em> arrives, She draws lines with Her feet. If she enquires lovingly she cries loudly in stead of giving a reply. Poet Ghana Shy\u00e2m d\u00e2s wants to know what She desires, what ails Her so.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

“Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni has said (the ambassadress quotes): My eyes and heart went haywire beholding Your wondrous beauty. My heart is set afire for Your touch, how do I live, O tell me.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

M\u00e2dhav! Please do hear! Ignorant Love has engulfed Her like the fire swallows an insect. She tries to speak, but cannot, She is so full of distress. Neither can She rest in peace, for She is burning in the fire of Your viraha<\/em> and She is always lying on the earth. The mention of K\u00e2lindi and Kadamba makes Her shed tears. Say, M\u00e2dhav, how will She live?\u2019 Govinda d\u00e2s inquires.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the siddha-deha<\/em> Sri Lil\u00e2shuk is asking \u2013 when will I see Sri Krishna dressed enchantingly while meeting Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sri Bhatta Gosw\u00e2mip\u00e2d explains that Sri Lil\u00e2shuk is expressing his desire to behold Sri Krishna. \u2018My eyes are searching for Mur\u00e2ri\u2019s enchanting appearance\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He has explained \u2018Mur\u00e2ri<\/strong>\u2019 in the following manner \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Mur<\/em>\u2019 means the \u2018one that binds\u2019, while \u2018ari<\/em>\u2019 means enemy. The Vrajab\u00e2l\u00e2s<\/em> are obstacles in Sri Krishna\u2019s darshan<\/em>\u201d. But when the Gopis <\/em>see Him or hear His flute even once, they are freed from all bondage. So He is \u2018Mur\u00e2ri\u2019. Srip\u00e2d Lil\u00e2shuk is a devotee in Gopi-bh\u00e2v<\/em>. The Gopis<\/em> have an extraordinary attraction for Sri Krishna\u2019s rup-m\u00e2dhuri<\/em> and venu-m\u00e2dhuri.<\/em> They even decide to give up their lives for the sake of these two objects. Srila Gy\u00e2na d\u00e2s quotes Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2\u2019s lamentation in deep love \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“How would I know His beauty would affect me so, How can a weak girl bear so much pain and despair?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

His flute sets fire to the heart that rages twice over and it spits venom like a high breed snake. That sister-in-law is so vile. She does not let me meet Him and troubles me always. I am so scared of her that I shiver like a doe caught up in a hunter\u2019s net.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My heart always beats for Shy\u00e2m with a love so deep that whoever tells me to let go of Him, surely wants to murder me and he is my enemy. Poet Gy\u00e2na d\u00e2s says – She is ready to do whatever you say, to procure Krishna. For Shy\u00e2m She\u2019ll give up Her life as well.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That Mur\u00e2ri has an enchanting appearance as well! Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam says –<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“bhushana-bhushana-angam.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meaning \u2013 “Each and every part of Sri Krishna\u2019s body beautifies the ornament worn by that part.\u201d -[Srimad Bh\u00e2gavatam 3.2.12]<\/span><\/p>\n
