In the s\u00e2dhak<\/em> state, Sri Lil\u00e2shuk is telling his Vaishnav companions \u2013 “My heart is full of the sweet youthfulness of Mukunda.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Definition of \u2018Mukunda\u2019<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“muktin dad\u00e2ti-iti mukundah<\/span><\/em>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meaning \u2013 “\u2019Mukunda\u2019 is the One Who grants freedom from M\u00e2y\u00e2<\/em> (illusion) and bestows a gift on the living being and that is – the joyous love for His lotus-feet.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Srila Bilvamangal Th\u00e2kur has written \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“ayi parichinuchetah pr\u00e2trambhoja-netram<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

kabara-kalita-chanchat-pichcha-d\u00e2ma-abhir\u00e2mam,<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

balabhid-upala-nilang vallavi-bhaga-dheyan<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

nikhila-nigama-valli-mula-k\u00e2ndam mukundam\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meaning \u2013 “O my mind! Whose splendour is like the sapphire, Whose attractive chud\u00e2<\/em> is decorated with swaying peacock-feather, Who is the priceless treasure of the young Gopa<\/em> damsels \u2013 remember That lotus-eyed Mukunda when you wake up each morning for He is the root of all Scriptural injunctions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

We find the name \u2018Mukunda\u2019 being used to glorify the Lord in various places in Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam, such as \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“yama-adibhir-yopa-pathaih kama-lobha-hato muhuh,<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

mukunda-sevaya yad-vat tatha-atmaddha-na shamyati.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Meaning \u2013 “Man is bound by m\u00e2y\u00e2 <\/em>and is constantly wounded by the six enemies such as lust, greed etc. His heart can not be so much purified by the Asht\u00e2nga Yog such as yam<\/em>, niyam <\/em>etc. as it can be purified by serving the lotus-feet of Mukunda.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

“Following the footsteps of the previous great devotees, I too shall cross this perilous material ocean just by serving the lotus-feet of Mukunda.\u201d – [Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam 11.23.58]<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam we find \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

(Maharshi Karbh\u00e2jan told Mah\u00e2r\u00e2j Nimi) \u2013 “O R\u00e2jan! Sri Mukunda is the loving shelter of all. The one who forsakes all duties and surrenders completely unto Him is no more a subordinate to devat\u00e2s<\/em>, rishis, relatives, pitris<\/em> (forefathers) or any other living or non-living element. He is not indebted to any one either.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sri Prahl\u00e2d Mah\u00e2shay has instructed the daitya<\/em> children in this manner \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“O daitya<\/em> children! Whether one is a devat\u00e2, asur<\/em>, human being, yaksha, gandharva<\/em> or anything else, he will gain ultimate welfare by performing bhajan<\/em> of the lotus feet of Sri Mukunda alone. We cannot please Him with brahminical qualities or just because we are a devat\u00e2<\/em> or rishi. Neither can we please Him simply with high birth, honourable family or by gaining knowledge. We can make Him happy only by pure bhakti<\/em> \u2013 all other efforts are in vain.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In this verse the poet has described the beauty of That kishor Mukunda, His attire that attracts the rasiks<\/em> and the sweet beauty of His moon-like face, lips and soft smiles.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
