His naturally sweet face is lit up with an appealing smile. His eyes are large and reaching the ears. They are moving restlessly and His eyebrows are dancing. When I climbed up the banks of the Yamun\u00e2, what a wonderful vision I had of Shy\u00e2m! Poet Gy\u00e2na d\u00e2s says &#8211; He is sheer nectar \u2013 That Son of Nanda from Gokul.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\" lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\" lang=\"EN-GB\">Sri Krishna\u2019s words are as soothing as His <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">kaishor<\/em>. He attracts the heart and soul of the fair sex of Vraja. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\" lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\" lang=\"EN-GB\">&#8220;(His) each and every word exudes nectar \u2013 they are all <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">mantras<\/em> meant to bewitch decent ladies, so that they stay awake all day and night sighing heavily and wishing for death. They constantly keep remembering His style of walking (in half steps) and thus they are full of anguish. Also, He is called \u2018<strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">Mathur\u00e2<\/strong>\u2019, because He agitates (<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">manthan)<\/em> the hearts of the onlookers. Hence, in this verse, \u2018Mathur\u00e2\u2019 refers to Sri Krishna Who is appearing on the pathway to the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">kunja<\/em> and Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2 is seeing Him, and does not refer to &#8220;Mathur\u00e2 \u2013 the city\u2019. Hence this part of the verse means Who (<strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\"><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">kah<\/em><\/strong>) is this (<strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\"><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">eshah<\/em><\/strong>) Mathur\u00e2 (agitator of my heart)? Everything about Him \u2013 His crown of peacock feathers, built, face, eyes, sweet speech, amorous movements \u2013 agitate the hearts of the onlookers \u2013 Who is He, slowly approaching the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">kunja<\/em>, on the paths of Vrind\u00e2van?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\" lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\" lang=\"EN-GB\">In his <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">siddha-swarup<\/em>, Sri Lil\u00e2shuk is standing close to Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni and describing Sri Krishna\u2019s beauty in a charming manner to the surrounding <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakhis<\/em>. As a <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">s\u00e2dhak<\/em>, Sri Lil\u00e2shuk had a <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sphurti<\/em> of Sri Krishna as he entered Mathur\u00e2 and he has described Sri Krishna\u2019s sweet beauty in this verse. He has used the word \u2018Oye\u2019 as an expression of amazement. Who is this entering the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">kunja<\/em>-way in Vrind\u00e2van? Whose eyes are playful with love-intoxication?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\" lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\" lang=\"EN-GB\">Srila Bhatta Gosw\u00e2mip\u00e2d says, Sri Lil\u00e2shuk contemplated very deeply on Sri Krishna. Therefore, he got a \u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sphurti<\/em>\u2019 of Sri Krishna and he has described His sweetness in this verse. \u2018Oye\u2019 means \u2018Aho!\u2019 Who is arriving \u2018<strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\"><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">mitho g\u00e2hate\u2019<\/em><\/strong> (solitarily in an amorous manner)? Here <strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">\u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">mathura-veethi\u2019<\/em><\/strong> does not mean the roads of Mathur\u00e2. To prove this Srila Gosw\u00e2mip\u00e2d has quoted Sri Gop\u00e2lottara-tapani Shruti as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\" lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: center;\" align=\"center\"><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-ansi-language: ES-TRAD;\" lang=\"ES-TRAD\">&#8220;mathyate jagat sarvang tu brahma-gy\u00e2nena yena va,<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: center;\" align=\"center\"><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-ansi-language: ES-TRAD;\" lang=\"ES-TRAD\">tat-sara-bhutang yad yasyang mathura sa nigadyate.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-ansi-language: ES-TRAD;\" lang=\"ES-TRAD\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\" lang=\"EN-GB\">Meaning \u2013 &#8220;Mathur\u00e2 is the condensed form of the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Brahma-gy\u00e2n<a style=\"mso-footnote-id: ftn1;\" name=\"_ftnref1\" href=\"#_ftn1\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"mso-special-character: footnote;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\" lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/em> that agitates all creation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\" lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;\" lang=\"EN-GB\">This means that Sri Lil\u00e2shuk is describing Sri Krishna in a very loving manner. He has a vision of Sri Krishna because of his deep love. When he saw Him more clearly, he said <strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">\u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">maulish-chandraka-bhushanah\u2019<\/em><\/strong><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">,<\/em> meaning, \u2018He is wearing a crown of peacock feathers\u2019. His body is more beautiful than an emerald pillar. Actually, Sri Krishna\u2019s bodily splendour resembles a sapphire, but He looks like an emerald when He reflects the golden light from His ornaments. Then Lil\u00e2shuk got a closer vision and said \u2013 <strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">\u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">vaktram chitra-vimugdha-hasa-madhuram\u2019<\/em><\/strong><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">.<\/em> <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">\u2018<strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">Chitra<\/strong>\u2019<\/em> means \u2018most amazing\u2019, <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">\u2018<strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">vimugdha<\/strong>\u2019<\/em> means \u2018especially beautiful\u2019. Therefore, especially beautiful smiles are making His face appears like a sweet <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras,<\/em> no, the very embodiment of sweetness! Also, His eyes are soft and naturally playful. He heard some words and said <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">\u2018<strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">vachah shaishava-sheetala\u2019<\/strong>,<\/em> meaning, \u2018His speech is sweet and soothing\u2019. Then he ascertained that He is none other than Sri Krishna and said \u2013 \u2018<strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\"><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">mada-gaja-shlaghya vilasa-sthitih\u2019<\/em><\/strong><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">,<\/em> meaning, \u2018Whose bodily movements are more praiseworthy than those of an intoxicated elephant\u201d.
