text-align: justify;\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; mso-no-proof: no;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">Once upon a time Janamejaya (son of Parikshit) heard the wonderful story of Mah\u00e2bh\u00e2rat from Mah\u00e2muni Jaimini.<!--more--> He heard the last part of the story with special eagerness and said \u2013 &#8220;Dear <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">brahmin<\/em>, although I heard Mah\u00e2bh\u00e2rat from Maharshi Vaishamp\u00e2yan earlier, I did not relish so much <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em>, as I have relished from you. Now please end the story on a sweet note as well.\u201d Sri Jaimini replied \u2013 &#8220;O best amongst the kings! Vy\u00e2sdev beheld Sri Bhagav\u00e2n, Bhakti Devi and Maya Shakti in Bhakti<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">&#8211;<\/em>Samadhi-yoga. He realized directly the beauty and sweet pastimes of the Lord and compiled Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam. His son Sri Shukadev Muni, who was the result of his immense austerity, was <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">\u00e2tm\u00e2r\u00e2m<\/em><\/span><a style=\"mso-footnote-id: ftn1;\" name=\"_ftnref1\" href=\"#_ftn1\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"mso-special-character: footnote;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"> and <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">\u00e2ptak\u00e2m<\/em><\/span><a style=\"mso-footnote-id: ftn2;\" name=\"_ftnref2\" href=\"#_ftn2\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"mso-special-character: footnote;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">. He was very much attracted to Sri Krishna and studied the entire Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam, although it is a very large text. On the other hand, your father had been cursed by a <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">brahmin<\/em> and was waiting for his death on the banks of the Gang\u00e2. Sri Shukadev recited the nectarine Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam in his assembly and relieved him from the fear of death as well as aroused supreme bhakti in his heart.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; mso-no-proof: no;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-indent: 35.3pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; mso-no-proof: no;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">When King Parikshit\u2019s mother Uttar\u00e2 saw her son nearing his supremely glorious end \u2013 a goal that he desired, she was overwhelmed with sorrow. Maharaj Parikshit explained to his mother about the immortality of the soul and said that birth and death are nothing but the rule of the material world. She was consoled and said, &#8220;Dear child, Srip\u00e2d B\u00e2dar\u00e2yani<\/span><a style=\"mso-footnote-id: ftn3;\" name=\"_ftnref3\" href=\"#_ftn3\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"mso-special-character: footnote;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"> is the best of the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">paramahamsas<\/em>. He has gifted you with the relish of the nectarine divine <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em> called Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam. If you could narrate to me even a slight bit of its gist, that is most enjoyable, then I shall feel blessed.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-indent: 35.3pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; mso-no-proof: no;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-indent: 35.3pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; mso-no-proof: no;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">When Parikshit heard Uttar\u00e2\u2019s request, he said \u2013 &#8220;Dear mother, there is hardly any time left for me to journey to the next world, hence if you wish to hear in brief what my most worshiped Spiritual Master Sri Shukadev Muni has narrated to me \u2013 the most confidential part \u2013 that is \u2013 the meditation on the nocturnal pastimes of Sri Vrind\u00e2ban, then I can describe to you little bit, since time is very short. Mother Uttare replied, &#8220;My child, sugar is the condensed form of sugarcane, while amritam is the condensed for the Ksheers\u00e2gar (ocean of milk). Similarly, what you are about to describe (the gist of Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam) is certainly the sweetest portion of the entire Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam. Please speak from your own realization and make me relish at least little bit.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-indent: 35.3pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; mso-no-proof: no;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-indent: 35.3pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; mso-no-proof: no;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">King Parikshit was supremely pleased when he saw how eager his mother was to hear the divine discourse. He became impatient with joy and decided to make his mother relish the best and the sweetest portion \u2013 the cream \u2013 of Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam. He said, &#8220;Dear mother! Although I shall depart very soon, and I had decided to keep a vow of silence, yet your question is so sweet, that it forces me to speak. By the mercy of my Spiritual Master Shukadev Muni, I shall narrate the nectarine Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam to you. Please listen attentively and with self-control.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-indent: 35.3pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; mso-no-proof: no;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-indent: 35.3pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; mso-no-proof: no;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">&#8220;Dear mother! Once in the month of M\u00e2gh, the best of the sages had gathered around Sri M\u00e2dhav, in Pray\u00e2g, which is the king of all holy places. Meanwhile a wealthy <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">brahmin<\/em> desired to feed some devotees and arrived there with his relatives. He cleaned one spot and worshiped the Supreme Lord in the form of Sh\u00e2lagr\u00e2m <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">shil\u00e2<\/em> with many ingredients. After the sev\u00e2, he fed many <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">brahmins<\/em>, Vaishnavs, the poor and the suffering with <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">mah\u00e2pras\u00e2d<\/em> with reverence. Ultimately he partook of the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">pras\u00e2d<\/em> and offered all the fruits of his <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">karma<\/em> to Sri Bhagav\u00e2n. Later on, he seated Lord Sh\u00e2lagr\u00e2m on the throne and prepared to leave. Devarshi N\u00e2rad, who was watching all this, felt that he wanted to ascertain who the best recipient of Sri Krishna\u2019s <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">krip\u00e2<\/em> was. Therefore, as the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">brahmin<\/em> was about to leave, he got up from the assembly of the sages and told him \u2013 &#8220;O great brahmin, you alone are the supreme recipient of Sri Krishna-<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">krip\u00e2<\/em>.\u201d The <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">brahmin<\/em> replied, &#8220;O sage! What characteristic of divine <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">krip\u00e2<\/em> did you see in me? I don\u2019t think I have received any <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">krip\u00e2<\/em> whatsoever. If you indeed wish to see what divine krip\u00e2 is like, then please go to a king who lives in south India. He is a great devotee and see how wonderfully he, along with his entire family, serves Sri Krishna and His devotees. The manner in which he welcomes guests and his excellent qualities will astonish you.\u201d When Sri N\u00e2rad heard this, he became most curious. He went to the city where the king lived. He saw that the king was more wonderful than what the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">brahmin<\/em> had described. He was serving the Deity of Sri Bhagav\u00e2n that is eternal, conscious and blissful in his capital city, in an excellent manner. He used to arrange grand new festivals every day and serve the Vaishnavs with delicious <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">pras\u00e2dam<\/em>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-indent: 35.3pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; mso-no-proof: no;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-indent: 35.3pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; mso-no-proof: no;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">Sri N\u00e2rad was supremely pleased. He approached the king and said, &#8220;Dear King! You have indeed received Sri Krishna\u2019s <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">krip\u00e2<\/em>, for you have engaged all your wealth and facilities to serve the Supreme Being and His devotees.\u201d The Mah\u00e2r\u00e2ja was embarrassed to hear his own praise from Devarshi N\u00e2rad. He bowed his head and said, &#8220;O Devarshi! We are human beings; we are suffering under the threefold misery; how is it possible for worthless beings such as myself to receive Sri Krishna-<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">krip\u00e2<\/em>? If you wish to see Krishna-<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">krip\u00e2<\/em>, then please visit the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">devat\u00e2s<\/em> residing in the heaven. They drink nectar and so do not fall ill or die. Again, Indra is the best of the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">devat\u00e2s<\/em>. Even Bhagav\u00e2n Vishnu has accepted the position of his younger brother in the form of Lord V\u00e2man.
