Is He Kandarpa Himself? Or is He an orb of sweet brilliance? Or is He the embodiment of sweetness? Or is He nectar for the mind and the eyes? Is He the same M\u00e2dhav Who loosens my plait? Am I really seeing Kishor Krishna, Who is the Beloved o my life? 68.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

t last, Sri Lil\u00e2shuk got actual darshan<\/em> of Sri Bhagav\u00e2n.\u00a0 <\/span>From the 68th<\/span><\/sup> verse to the 95th<\/span><\/sup> verse, he has described how His beauty is beyond our mind and senses.\u00a0 <\/span>Srila Kavir\u00e2j Gosw\u00e2mip\u00e2d has quoted a verse from Srimad Bh\u00e2gavatam to describe how Sri Krishna appeared before the poet – <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Vanam\u00e2li Sri Krishna, Who is the Manmath of Manmath, appeared amidst the lamenting Gopis, with a smile on His face, and decked in golden yellow robes.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

– [Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam 10.32.2]\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When Sri Lil\u00e2shuk entered Vrindavan, Sri Krishna appeared before him exactly in the same manner and the poet could see Him amidst Sri Radha and the Gopis.\u00a0 <\/span>He could see how Sri Radha (in spite of beholding Sri Krishna) thought – \u2018I am so unfortunate not to get Sri Krishna\u2019s darshan<\/em>\u2019. She was crying along with Her sakhis and Sri Lil\u00e2shuk has echoed Her feelings in this verse. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When, all of a sudden, Sri Krishna appeared in the R\u00e2s<\/em>-floor, virahini<\/em> Sri Radha was astonished.\u00a0 <\/span>At first, She could not even recognize Him.\u00a0 <\/span>She felt as if M\u00e2r (Kandarpa<\/em>) himself had arrived.\u00a0 <\/span>She was scared – is He \u2018M\u00e2r\u2019? \u2018M\u00e2r\u2019 means \u2018to kill\u2019. Kandarpa<\/em> is called M\u00e2r because he can kill everybody with his flower-tipped arrows.\u00a0 <\/span>It was natural for Her to be scared, since She was Sri Krishna-viraha-vidhur\u00e2<\/em>[1]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>, and on top of this if M\u00e2r (Love-god) tortures Her in this manner, how would she survive? Therefore, She was scared.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni is so overcome with grief due to Sri Krishna-viraha<\/em> that sometimes She decides to forsake Him altogether and thus live in peace.\u00a0 <\/span>She orders Her sakhis too to give up Krishna-kath\u00e2, but the result is not good. Sriman-Mah\u00e2prabhu has lamented Gambhir\u00e2-leel\u00e2<\/em> (in Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2\u2019s mood) – <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“(Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2 said) – Let me try this – I will give up hoping for Krishna, for then I will be happy.\u00a0 <\/span>O sakhis! Forsake this wretched Krishna-kath\u00e2.\u00a0 <\/span>Discuss something worthwhile instead, so that we may forget Krishna.\u00a0 <\/span>As soon as She said this, Krishna was revealed in Her Heart and she told Her sakhi in wonder, \u2018I want to leave Him, but He is lying in my heart, how do I get rid of Him?\u2019 It is R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni\u2019s nature, that She considers Sri Krishna as K\u00e2mdev, so She was worried.\u00a0 <\/span>She said, \u2018He who kills everybody has entered my heart.\u00a0 <\/span>Oh! This enemy does not let me forget Him!\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now also Srimati mistook Sri Krishna for K\u00e2mdev.\u00a0 <\/span>But very soon, She <\/span>put Her fear to rest.\u00a0 <\/span>She thought – if He is M\u00e2r, then how come He is so sweet?\u00a0 <\/span>Is He the collection of all sweet brilliance? <\/span>Although Sri Krishna\u2019s effulgence as bright as crores of suns, it is more cooling than countless moons. The gy\u00e2ni<\/em>s call this effulgence as \u2018Brahmajyoti\u2019.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A loving devotee finds this effulgence supremely sweet.\u00a0 <\/span>Sri Krishna\u2019s sweetness makes Him appear to His devotees as the \u2018One Who mesmerizes countless Manmaths\u2019.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While explaining \u2018Kam\u00e2vat\u00e2ra-ankuram<\/em>\u2019 in the 3rd<\/span><\/sup> verse, Srila Krishnad\u00e2s Kavir\u00e2j Gosw\u00e2mi had said \u2013 Sri Krishna is infinitely captivating and mesmerizes countless Manmaths, is an unlimited ocean of naturally sweet l\u00e2vanya-Amritam<\/em> and the exalted devotees experience all these excellences. At present, He is in Vrindavan in the form of Sriman-Madan-Gop\u00e2l. Again Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni asked Herself – “Has sweetness assumed a form and has appeared before me?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Actually, sweetness and Sri Krishna are synonymous.\u00a0 <\/span>Then why do we say Sri Krishna\u2019s sweetness? It is just a way of talking – like we say R\u00e2hu\u2019s head.\u00a0 <\/span>The demon R\u00e2hu consists of only his head.\u00a0 <\/span>Therefore, if we say \u2018R\u00e2hu\u2019, we are referring to his head, but still we say \u2018R\u00e2hu\u2019s head\u2019.\u00a0 <\/span>In the same way, we say \u2018Sri Krishna\u2019s sweetness\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sri Radha was still doubtful. She thought, \u2018Is He Amritam<\/em>? But Amritam<\/em> is a liquid, whereas He has a shape.\u00a0 <\/span>Then, is He really my Beloved – the One Who loosens my tresses?\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>She looked properly and said with bliss \u2013 “Yes! It is true!\u00a0 <\/span>He is really my beloved Navakishor Shy\u00e2msundar!\u00a0 <\/span>He has arrived to enhance the joy of my heart and eyes! Dear sakhis, look! Look! He is indeed my Life and Soul!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sriman-Mah\u00e2prabhu read this verse during Gambhir\u00e2-lil\u00e2<\/em> and uttered in love-delirium \u2013<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Is He K\u00e2mdev<\/em>, or is He the embodiment of effulgence? On the other hand, is He sweetness personified? Or is He the \u2018Celebration of my heart\u2019 and the \u2018Festival of my eyes?\u2019 Or is He really the Beloved of my Life – Sri Krishna Who has truly arrived here to enhance the joy of my eyes!\u201d – [Sri Chaitanya-Charit\u00e2mrita.Madhya.2.64.] <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Srila Bhatta Gosw\u00e2mip\u00e2d says Sri Lil\u00e2shuk has Sri Krishna\u2019s s\u00e2ksh\u00e2tk\u00e2r<\/em> and his singular bhakti<\/em> for Sri Krishna\u2019s lotus feet have increased tremendously.\u00a0 <\/span>He is very anxious and full of distress.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Who is the handsome person who has appeared before me and is spreading radiance all around?\u00a0 <\/span>Am I mistaken? Is he Kandarpa<\/em> himself?\u00a0 <\/span>No, No, Kandarpa<\/em> is bodiless.\u00a0 <\/span>In spite of being without a body, he manages to agitate the hearts of all living beings.\u00a0 <\/span>Is he the moon? No, no, the moon is blemished, whereas this one is flawless.\u00a0 <\/span>Also, he is the essence of Supreme bliss, a divine form! Then is he Sweetness personified? No, no, sweetness has no form, whereas this is a Kishor<\/em> with such a sweet form!\u00a0 <\/span>Then is he Amritam<\/em>? No, no even that is impossible, since Amritam<\/em> is a liquid.\u201d Again, he pondered carefully and concluded – He is none other than the One who combs the hair of Vraja-beauties.\u00a0 <\/span>When the Gopis suffered from viraha<\/em>, they did not comb their hair.\u00a0 <\/span>They wore their hair in a single plait throughout and their hair grew knotted.\u00a0 <\/span>Their beloved came and combed their hair Himself.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Venimrija\u2019<\/span><\/em><\/strong> may also mean the \u2018One Who is wiped (marjan<\/em>) with plaits (veni).<\/em>\u00a0 <\/span>When Sri Krishna returned after cattle grazing the Vrajadevis<\/em> loosened their plaits and wiped His dusty feet most lovingly with them.\u00a0 <\/span>In the end, he says – \u2018jivita-vallabh\u2019<\/em><\/strong> – One who is dearer than life.\u00a0 <\/span>Sri Krishna is the embodiment of some indescribable ras <\/em>– separated from Whom, even for half a nimesh<\/em>, we cannot bear to live.\u00a0 <\/span>His beauty, effulgence and sweetness are most amazing and are an empire of Supreme bliss for the heart and for the eyes. 68.<\/span><\/p>\n
