venu-gita-gati-mula-vedhase<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The saffron on the breasts of the Gopa damsels is indeed blessed for it bathes Sri Krishna and makes Him look all the more radiant and exultant. He is the Creator of the sweet song of the flute and all other wonderful notes. He is the Creator of countless Brahm\u00e2s. I pay repeated obeisance to That effulgent Sri Krishna.77.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

ow Sri Lil\u00e2shuk beheld Sri Krishna Who was coloured with the saffron of the Gopa damsels\u2019 breasts. How attractive and radiant He looked! How wonderfully He played the flute! He uttered in amazement \u2013 “I pay repeated obeisance to this Sri Krishna.\u201d Love has overwhelmed him so much that he has said \u2018namo namah\u2019<\/em> <\/strong>twice. How is Sri Krishna looking? The blessed saffron from the Gopa damsels\u2019 breasts has coloured Him. He is looking all the more radiant and exultant. His dark complexion has become brilliant due to the saffron. The Vrajab\u00e2l\u00e2s<\/em> are naturally luxuriant and fragrant. When the saffron meets their breasts, it becomes blessed, for it gains these qualities. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

During viraha,<\/em> the Gopis had paled. Now Sri Krishna\u2019s embrace has made them joyful. He is weaving magic with His flute. Sri Krishna is the Originator of the sweet song of the flute. He is the One Who has created Ved-mantras<\/em> that resonate from each and every pore of the flute. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

“When Sri Krishna plays the reverberating notes of the flute, Indra, Shiva, Brahm\u00e2 and all other celestial beings hear spellbound, yet they are unable to discern the Truth about Him and they fall in illusion.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

We see in Sri Brahma-samhit\u00e2 \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

“The G\u00e2yatri Mantra came out from the flute and entered Brahm\u00e2\u2019s pure lips<\/strong>. Thus Brahma, who was born in the lotus, got the G\u00e2yatri Mantra from the flute-playing Sri Krishna. In this manner the Lord cleansed Brahm\u00e2 and made him a Brahmin.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Vidagdha-Madhav[1]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> too has called the song of the flute as Vedic chant. <\/span><\/p>\n

Vish\u00e2kh\u00e2 told Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni, “Your modesty is like a sacrificial fire and the resonance of the flute is the mantra<\/em> of the Atharva Ved that extinguishes that fire (it is destroying Your modesty). The notes of the flute are kindling the fire of passion like the mantras<\/em> of S\u00e2madheni. They are like the teachings of the Upanishads since they unite the Soul (You) with the Super Soul (K\u00e2nh\u00e2). Therefore, You may safely conclude that the flute is Your staunch enemy.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Srila Bilwamangal Th\u00e2kur too has stated \u2013<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

“The music of Sri Krishna\u2019s flute drive people crazy, it lends its voice to the Vedas, makes the trees blissful, melts the rocks and mesmerizes the deer. It makes the cattle happy, fills the universes with awe and pleasures the Munis. The song of the flute expresses the seven notes, manifests Omk\u00e2r (the primeval sound) and reigns Supreme.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Sri Lil\u00e2shuk was amazed and thought, “Is it possible that Sri Krishna is the Originator of this Venu-geet?\u201d Immediately he remembered a divine pastime and said, “It is nothing surprising \u2013 brahma-r\u00e2shi-mahase<\/em><\/strong>.\u201d Srila Kavir\u00e2j Gosw\u00e2mi has explained the meaning \u2013 “There are infinite universes and infinite Brahm\u00e2s. They glorify Sri Krishna, Who is the Creator of them all.\u201d Is it surprising that He Who is the Creator of creators has created the Venu-geet? Sri Chaitanya Charit\u00e2mrita has described one portion of the Lord\u2019s majesty \u2013<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

“One day, in Dwaraka, the gate-keeper informed Sri Krishna that Brahm\u00e2 had come to see Him. The Lord asked, “Which Brahm\u00e2? What is his name?\u201d The gatekeeper returned to Brahm\u00e2 and inquired about him. Brahm\u00e2 was surprised. He answered, “Tell Him – Chaturmukh, the father of Sanak Muni, has come.\u201d The gatekeeper conveyed this message to Sri Krishna and took Brahm\u00e2 inside. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

He prostrated himself before the Lord. Sri Krishna received him well and asked, “Why have you come?\u201d Brahm\u00e2 said, “I shall state my request later. First, please clear my doubt. Why did you ask \u2018which Brahm\u00e2\u2019? There is no other Brahm\u00e2 than myself!\u201d The Lord smiled and meditated. Immediately innumerable Brahm\u00e2s appeared in His presence. They had ten, twenty, hundred, thousand, million, lakh, and crores of heads. Some had so many heads you would not be able to count them even. Then the Shivas came with lakhs of crores of heads. Indras<\/em> with lakhs of crores of eyes followed them. When Chaturmukh saw this, he was at a complete loss. He felt like a rabbit amidst a herd of elephants.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018brahma-r\u00e2shi-mahase\u2019<\/span><\/em><\/strong> <\/span><\/strong>also means \u2018the One Whose effulgence is called Brahman\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

“Sri Krishna\u2019s effulgence is supremely brilliant. Upanishads call His effulgence as the \u2018Pure Brahman\u2019. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 (C.C.\u00c2di.2.8)<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

“Sri Govinda is supremely powerful. Brahman is His effulgence. It sustains and contains crores and crores of universes. It is entirely different from His immense majesty. It is complete, infinite and all pervading. I worship That Primeval Lord Sri Govinda.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Brahm\u00e2 has arisen from the opulence of the root Brahman and That Brahman is Sri Krishna\u2019s effulgence. Therefore, Sri Krishna is the source of all Brahm\u00e2s. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Sri Git\u00e2 too declares \u2013<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>“I am the source of Brahman\u201d. \u2013 (14.27)<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Sri Bhatta Gosw\u00e2mip\u00e2d says, the poet is describing Sri Radharani\u2019s good fortune in this verse and is paying obeisance with pleasure. He has explained \u2018brahma-r\u00e2shi-mahase\u2019<\/em> <\/strong>in the following manner. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The devotees become extremely euphoric (brahma-sukha-r\u00e2shi<\/em><\/strong>) and celebrate (mahah<\/em><\/strong>) when they behold the cowherd form of Sri Krishna \u2013 “I pay obeisance to that Sri Krishna (Gop\u00e2l).\u201d This indicates that when a devotee performs Sri Krishna-bhajan<\/em> he experiences crores of times greater delight than merging with Brahman. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

“Even if one attains the pleasure of merging with Brahman after performing sam\u00e2dh<\/em>i for a par\u00e2rdha<\/em>[2]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>, it is nothing compared to an atom of joy felt by a devotee.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

“When we are proud to be Sri Krishna\u2019s servant, we experience such tremendous joy that even crores of Brahma-sukh<\/em>[3]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> is nothing compared to it.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

I pay obeisance unto the lotus-feet of that cowherd form of Sri Krishna over and over again. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

How does Sri Krishna look? <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

He is \u2018dhenu-p\u00e2la-dayit\u00e2-stana-sthali-dhanya-kumkumasa-n\u00e2tha-k\u00e2ntaye\u2019.<\/em><\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Dhenu-p\u00e2la\u2019<\/span><\/em><\/strong> means \u2018the Gopas who tend the cattle\u2019. \u2018Dayit\u00e2<\/em><\/strong>\u2019 means \u2018their wives (the Gopis)\u2019. The blessed saffron of their breasts is beautifying Him and He is looking colourful and resplendent. The above expression may also mean \u2018the beloved of the cows, the cowherds, and the Gopis\u2019 which indicates Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2. In this case the meaning will be \u2013<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Sri Krishna\u2019s effulgence is powerful due to the blessed saffron from Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2\u2019s breasts\u2019. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Venu-gita-gati-mula-vedhase\u2019<\/em><\/strong> means \u2018the Originator of the sweet song of the flute and various other virtues of music\u2019. Sri Krishna\u2019s Venu-geet is supremely attractive and mesmerizing.77.<\/span><\/p>\n
