rila Krishnad\u00e2s Kavir\u00e2j Gosw\u00e2mi explains, Sri Lil\u00e2shuk is saying: Earlier whatever forms I had begged to see, Sri Krishna is appearing before me in the same forms. He is omniscient, so He knew the Vrajavadhus<\/em>\u2019 heartfelt desire and fulfilled it during the R\u00e2s<\/em>-dance. At the same time, He is also completely na\u00efve. Sri Lil\u00e2shuk realized Sri Krishna\u2019s naivet\u00e9 and recited this verse in ecstasy and amazement. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sri Sri R\u00e2s<\/em>–leel\u00e2<\/em> is the crest jewel of all divine pastimes. In this leel\u00e2<\/em>, Sri Krishna revealed His natural infinite majesty. However, He kept Himself wrapped under the spell of Yogm\u00e2y\u00e2, His Own internal potency. He was not aware of His Own opulence. His aishwaryas<\/em> remained hidden behind the screen of Yogm\u00e2y\u00e2 and performed their tasks meticulously and superbly. This is why Srip\u00e2d Shukamuni has stated in the very beginning of R\u00e2s<\/em>–leel\u00e2<\/em> \u2013<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Bhagav\u00e2n Sri Krishna saw the beautiful night of the Sharad season fragrant with flowers such as Mallik\u00e2. He manifested His internal potency Yogm\u00e2y\u00e2 (who can make the impossible possible and the possible impossible) and wished to romance with the delightful Gopis.\u201d – (Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam10.29.1)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The first word Sri Shukamuni uses is \u2013 Bhagav\u00e2n<\/strong>. This single word indicates that R\u00e2sbihari<\/span>[1]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> Sri Krishna possesses the six types of colossal Shaktis <\/em>(powers). Similarly, \u2018yogm\u00e2y\u00e2m-up\u00e2shritah\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>shows that Yogm\u00e2y\u00e2, who can make the impossible possible and the possible impossible, has manifested His majesty without His knowledge. This is because if Sri Krishna had known that all these wonderful things were happening due to His Own majesty, He would not have enjoyed it as much. The ras<\/em> in the leel\u00e2<\/em> would have diminished.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sri Lil\u00e2shuk said, this Mass of Effulgence has entered my eyes and is expanding into an empire of supreme bliss. He is pervading my heart and stopping my heartbeats. Aho! How astounding! How is He? He is the greatest of the omniscient and the naive.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sri Bhatta Gosw\u00e2mip\u00e2d explains that Sri Lil\u00e2shuk realized the highest peak of bliss and recited this verse. Sri Krishna is full of leel\u00e2<\/em>–ras<\/em>. Therefore, sometimes He behaves as an omniscient and sometimes as an immature boy. The \u2018Brahma-mohan<\/em>–leel\u00e2<\/em>\u2019 (when He put Brahm\u00e2ji in illusion) is a burning example of this quality. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Brahm\u00e2 came to Braja and stole Govinda\u2019s calves and friends. Then Sri Krishna searched for them in the woods, just like an ignorant boy. Ultimately, He expressed His omniscience and learnt of Brahma\u2019s activity. He assumed the forms of all the calves and cowherd boys and relished the prem-ras<\/em> of all the loving cows and motherly Gopis. When Brahm\u00e2 saw this, he was perplexed. Then, by the Lord\u2019s wish, He got darshan <\/em>of the countless N\u00e2r\u00e2yan forms. He also saw the majesty of infinite Vaikunthas in this small province of Braja. When Brahm\u00e2 could not bear it any longer, He once again got darshan<\/em> of the Lord in the form <\/span>of a simple ignorant Gopa-boy searching for His friends and calves in the woods. In this leel\u00e2<\/em>, we see the wonderful union of omniscience and naivet\u00e9. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Those who know the Truth are especially joyous, confused and amazed by this quality. Sri Kunti Devi expressed her incredulity when she got darshan <\/em>of the D\u00e2m-bandhan<\/em> leel\u00e2<\/em><\/span>[2]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“O Krishna! When Mother Yashomati was tying You to the butter-churner, You were crying profusely. Your face had become dirty with the kohl flowing with Your tears. You were standing crestfallen out of fear. You, Whom even \u2018Fear\u2019 fears, were scared of Your mother! This is making my brain whirl!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Someone who knows about Sri Krishna\u2019s majesty may think that His omniscience is real while He is only pretending to be ignorant – that He is only putting on a human-like act. If any of you feel like this, please read Srila Jiva Gosw\u00e2mi\u2019s Krama-sandarbha explanation of Sri Kunti Devi\u2019s prayer. He has written \u2013 “Sri Kunti Devi says, \u2018Whom \u2018Fear\u2019 fears\u2019. This shows that she is well aware of Sri Krishna\u2019s majesty. Then why is she so bewildered with Him getting scared of His mother? She does not think He is putting on an act. She knows He is truly frightened of her. This proves He was actually scared.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bhakti<\/span><\/em> arouses in Sri Bhagav\u00e2n the desire to relish His devotees\u2019 sweet prem<\/em>. The same Bhakti<\/em> also makes Him a simpleton. Opposite qualities coexist nicely in Sri Bhagav\u00e2n. This is His inconceivable majesty.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sri Krishna is happier being na\u00efve, relishing it when His loving devotee binds Him, than to express His immeasurable opulence and all-knowledgeable quality.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We feel that Sri Bhagav\u00e2n neither grieves nor considers it a handicap when His darling devotee subjugates Him. Rather He takes great pride when He becomes a subordinate of His devotee and expresses glorious activities such as \u2018Bhakta-V\u00e2tsalya<\/em>\u2019<\/span>[3]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It is not as if only the devotee relishes Govinda\u2019s sweet ras-full<\/em> beauty, excellence and leel\u00e2s<\/em>, but Govinda also revels in the nectarine prem<\/em> in the lotus like heart of the devotee. He relishes it like a greedy and thirsty honeybee. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

“Sri Krishna, Who is the crest-jewel of all n\u00e2gars,<\/em> sports an exclusive quality. He can forsake all His excellences such as being \u00e2tm\u00e2r\u00e2m <\/em>but He can never stop Himself from being controlled by those who love Him. On the contrary, He welcomes it. This sort of subjugated-ness is the height of divinity.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Srila Chaitanya d\u00e2s Gosw\u00e2mip\u00e2d has explained that Sri Lil\u00e2shuk is exultant. He is saying, “Not only am I happy to get Sri Krishna\u2019s darshan<\/em> but He is also equally joyous to see me.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bhakti<\/span><\/em> submerges both Sri Bhagav\u00e2n and His bhakta<\/em> in the ocean of bliss. Sri Lil\u00e2shuk is in the mood of a Gopi. It is needless to say Sri Krishna loves to see the Gopis.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“When Krishna sees the Gopis, His elation knows no bounds. His sweetness increases so much \u2013 nothing can compare with it. The Gopi thinks, \u2018Krishna became so happy when He saw me\u2019. This thought lights up her face even more. Krishna\u2019s beauty is enhanced when He sees the beauty of the Gopi, while the Gopi\u2019s beauty increases when she beholds His handsomeness. In this manner, they compete with one another. Both escalate and neither accepts defeat.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
