Srila Raghun\u00e2th d\u00e2s Gosw\u00e2mi has revealed a supremely enjoyable meaning of the Mah\u00e2mantra and Srila Shib\u00e2nanda Sen’s son Sri Chaitanya d\u00e2s has rendered it in the form of a poem in simple Bengali. Since Srila D\u00e2s Goswami is in Manjari-bhav, he has revealed Srimati Radharani’s rendering of the Mahamantra !!!<\/strong> We present the English translation here.<\/p>\n

O Hare1<\/sup><\/strong><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 – You reveal Your bewitching form and steal my eyes and heart with Your sweetness,<\/p>\n

O Krishna –<\/strong> You are the abode of joy and You are most attractive, I can see none but You.<\/p>\n

\u00a0O Hare<\/strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0– You shatter my self-control, fear of the elders and family-honor,<\/p>\n

O Krishna –<\/strong> You drag me with the notes of Your flute and make me forget my\u00a0\u00a0body and everything related to it.<\/p>\n

\u00a0O Krishna –<\/strong> You shock me by tugging at my bodice and pulling me close,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

O Krishna<\/strong> – You touch my breasts under so many pretexts and are always restless because of Your anuraag<\/em> for me.<\/p>\n

O Hare<\/strong> –<\/strong> You steal me and take me to the flower-grove where You beg to make \u00a0love,<\/p>\n

O Hare –<\/strong> then the very next moment You steal my\u00a0secret clothes (4) \u00a0and express Your deepest longing.<\/p>\n

O Hare –<\/strong> You take pleasure in stealing my clothes and steal all the barriers in my heart,<\/p>\n

O R\u00e2m –<\/strong> You look so pleasurable, and moreover You express so much vaidagdhi <\/em>and ultimately fulfill Your desire.<\/p>\n

O Hare –<\/strong> No one is more eager or expert than You in stealing the hairline on the midriff (3), and all my aversion,<\/p>\n

O R\u00e2m –<\/strong> then you reveal so many arts of love-making and make me float in ras.<\/em><\/p>\n

O R\u00e2m –<\/strong> Your pleasure-sports are most pleasurable and I lose myself in Your joy,<\/p>\n

O R\u00e2m –<\/strong> Whenever I think of You making love to me, Your handsome ras<\/em>-form reveals in my mind’s eye.<\/p>\n

O Hare –<\/strong> There is no limit to Your stealing, how you steal my very consciousness and make me forget everything!<\/p>\n

O Hare –<\/strong> You steal my bosom like a lion and I have none but You.<\/p>\n

You are my soul and I do not know anyone else other than You. In Your viraha<\/em> even one moment appears like hundreds of kalpas.<\/em> And You, on the other hand, go far from me like one so unfeeling – tell me what do I do?<\/p>\n

O Nava-Ghana-Shy\u00e2m2<\/sup><\/strong><\/a>–<\/strong> You are a repository of pure ras,<\/em> my heart bleeds without You – how do I stay alive?<\/p>\n

Poet Chaitanya d\u00e2s says – “Do not worry the one who has so much anur\u00e2g<\/em> will surely get Her Beloved very soon.” – (Padakalpataru)<\/p>\n

1<\/sup><\/a> Hari = One Who steals. When we address \u2018Hari’, the word changes into Hare.<\/p>\n

2<\/sup><\/a> One Who resembles a fresh cloud<\/p>\n

(3) stealing the hairline on the midriff – Srimati Radharani has a thin line of hair on Her midriff. Lord Krishna makes love to Her on this region. Then She becomes so passionate that She cannot stop Him further – earlier She was trying to stop His advances, but now She loses Her (Vaamya) ‘aversion’\u00a0means ‘the feeling of protesting’.\u00a0 She stops protesting. Now this hairline becomes His property to do as He likes with it.\u00a0 We leave the rest of\u00a0this pastime to the fertile meditation of the mature devotee.<\/p>\n

Additional comment – some saint poets even compare this hairline to a serpentess who bewitches the best of all snake-charmers – Sri Krishna. Instead of the snake-charmer hypnotizing the snake, the reverse happens.<\/p>\n
