In this chapter he is describing Govinda\u2019s special pastimes, that is, His <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bh\u00e2v<\/em>-full flute-song and its impact on the Braja-maidens who are in <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">purva-r\u00e2g<\/em>. This is the Venu-Geet!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">These verses draw a very beautiful picture of Sri Vrind\u00e2ban. In the second verse, the word \u2018Madhupati\u2019 also means \u2018the Lord of the Spring season\u2019. This indicates that the beauty of Sharad is mingled with the loveliness of the spring season. Earlier the lakes of Vrind\u00e2ban such as P\u00e2van <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sarovar<\/em>, Kusum Sarovar, Sri Radhakund-Shy\u00e2mkund were flooded with water in the monsoon season. Now with the advent of Sharad, the water had got rid of it muddiness and was sparkling like crystal. In addition, attractive flowers were blooming in the lakes \u2013 such as \u2013 <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">kumud<\/em>, <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">kahl\u00e2r<\/em>, lotus and the blood-red lily. Hosts of swans were wandering happily in the lotus-forests. The trees looked grand with fresh green leaves. The woods were fragrant with the intoxicating aroma of various flowers such as <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bakul<\/em>, <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">shef\u00e2li<\/em> and <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">gandha-r\u00e2j<\/em>.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>The banks of the Yamun\u00e2 were resounding with the laughter of the land-lotus and the love-sporting Kadamba. On every sweet flower in every sweet <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">kunja<\/em> intoxicated sweet bees were humming sweetly. Vrind\u00e2ban was musical with the song of the cuckoos, the spellbinding dance of he peacocks and the cooing of different attractive birds. Girir\u00e2j Govardhan looked gorgeous with cascading waterfalls and colorful fruits and flowers. Cool, soft perfume laden breeze charmed the surrounding.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">&#8220;Madhupati\u2019 also signifies that since Sri Krishna is Madhupati, His sports-ground Brajadh\u00e2m is also full of \u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">madhu<\/em>\u2019 \u2013 honey. Honey is cascading from the breeze, the sky, the trees and creepers, and the sun and the moon that pours honey-like radiance. The laughter of the blossoms, the juice of the fruits, the warbling of the birds, and the dance of the peacocks \u2013 all are laden with hone. &#8220;<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">madhur\u00e2dhi-pater akhilam madhuram<\/em>\u201d \u2013 they are offering all their sweetness unto the service of the Source of Sweetness Sri Govinda. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Today Sri Vrind\u00e2ban that is eternally served by Vasanta<\/span><a style=\"mso-footnote-id: ftn4;\" name=\"_ftnref4\" href=\"#_ftn4\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"mso-special-character: footnote;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">, is celebrating the advent of Sharad. It looked as if there was a great grand feast of honey! The more Shy\u00e2msundar proceeded for cattle-grazing the more Vrind\u00e2ban held Him spellbound. Everywhere He saw an incomparable marvelous beauty!<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Mother Nature had arranged the most charming and alluring beauty in Vrind\u00e2ban to entertain Him. Somewhere in the woods a bird called sweetly \u2013 \u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bou-kath\u00e2-kao<\/em>\u2019<\/span><a style=\"mso-footnote-id: ftn5;\" name=\"_ftnref5\" href=\"#_ftn5\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"mso-special-character: footnote;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">. When Govinda heard it, His heart that was already palpitating, started dancing in full swing. When he gazed at a lake, He saw a Khanjan-couple kissing one another and exchanging sweet nothings. The bees were humming ceaseless. When He heard and saw all this, Shy\u00e2mal-Kishor<\/span><a style=\"mso-footnote-id: ftn6;\" name=\"_ftnref6\" href=\"#_ftn6\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"mso-special-character: footnote;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><sup>[6]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> did not feel a bit like cattle-grazing. His heart seemed drunk \u2013 it was in the grip of some doe-eyed Gopa-beauties. He had seen the sweet laughter in their desire-filled restless eyes. Their lovely faces were floating in His gaze like a picture. Especially one face, that belonging to His Precious One that had resounded His heart in vociferous soundless language \u2014 He simply could not forget Her \u2013 although He tried His best. Consequently, He moved away from the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakh\u00e2s<\/em>, and sat alone on an altar around a <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">tamaal<\/em> tree. He placed His left foot on the right one and thought about Her. Shy\u00e2m got lost in Her meditation! <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Here we must remember that although the pastimes between the Gpois and Gopin\u00e2th seem like the love affair of mundane lovers, it is strictly not so. Here the devotees are absolutely free of any material desire. It is a meeting between <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bhakta<\/em> and <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bhagav\u00e2n<\/em>. Their unification is the supreme truth, pristine pure and extremely sweet. It is a subject that blessed saints, the topmost desire-free devotees meditate on. Sri Bhagav\u00e2n is <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em>-full, hence He performs countless <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">leel\u00e2s<\/em>. <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Leel\u00e2<\/em> cannot exist without <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em>. <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Ras<\/em> is the soul of <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">leel\u00e2<\/em>. He is relishing \u2013 so He is \u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em><\/span><a style=\"mso-footnote-id: ftn7;\" name=\"_ftnref7\" href=\"#_ftn7\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"mso-special-character: footnote;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><sup>[7]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">\u2019. He is also the One Who relishes <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em>. He is Rasamay, therefore it is natural for Him to want to relish <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em>. The Brahman Whom the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">gy\u00e2nis<\/em> worship is without any characteristic, He is <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em>-less; He has no desire at all. However, the Bhagav\u00e2n Whom the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bhaktas<\/em> worship is not like this, He has a colossal desire to relish the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">prem<\/em> of the devotee. He is infinite \u2013 His desire to relish <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em> too in infinite. He is an ocean of bliss, and this ocean holds in its heart intense craving. These are all His <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">leel\u00e2s<\/em>. So we say He is \u2018Leel\u00e2may\u2019. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">What do we mean by \u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">leel\u00e2<\/em>\u2019? <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Sri Bhagav\u00e2n has two-fold activities \u2013 (1) <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">karma<\/em> and (2) <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">leel\u00e2<\/em>.
