On the other hand the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">gopi<\/em> thinks, \u2018Oh! Krishna is feeling so happy to see me\u2019 \u2013 this makes her body and face become exultant. When Sri Krishna beholds her, she looks beautiful, He too looks more handsome. In this manner they compete with one another, both keep on increasing and none accepts defeat. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">Krishna is blissful to see the beauty and qualities of the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">gopi<\/em>, while she feels happier when she sees Him joyous. She continues to feel happy because her happiness pleases Krishna \u2013 as a result the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">prem<\/em> of the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">gopis<\/em> is not tainted by lust.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Prem<\/em> attains its zenith in Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni. She possesses the supreme most <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">prem<\/em>. She is <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">m\u00e2dan\u00e2khya-mah\u00e2bh\u00e2v<\/em> personified. Consequently, Sri Krishna comes under Her control. In the Vrind\u00e2ban <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">leel\u00e2<\/em> the young gopis are <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">\u00e2shray-\u00e2lamban<\/em> and Sri Krishna is <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">vishay-\u00e2lamban<\/em>. To speak the truth, they are both \u00e2shray-\u00e2lamban and <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">vishay-\u00e2lamban<\/em> of each other. Yet the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras-sh\u00e2stras<\/em> of <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bhakti<\/em> call the devotees as \u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">\u00e2shray-\u00e2lamban<\/em>\u2019 and Sri Bhagav\u00e2n as \u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">vishay-\u00e2lamban<\/em>\u2019. This is why we too have followed suit. The <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sharad<\/em> season, full moon, fragrant breeze, the song of the cuckoo, gardens in blossom are the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">uddipan vibh\u00e2v<\/em>. Today, the objects that excite <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">rati<\/em> are strewn everywhere. Wherever you look, all you can see are the sweet excitants of love. They have inebriated Sri Krishna as well as the Gopis. The more <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sharad<\/em> season became beautiful, the Gopis and Gopi-jana-vallabh pined more for one another. Especially today, the environment is so sweet that Gopin\u00e2th has lost his patience. He is sitting beneath the Tam\u00e2l and meditating on the sweet beauty of Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni. His lotus like face has turned pale and His eyes were sad. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">Meanwhile His dear friend Subal arrived there. When he saw Govinda\u2019s miserable face, He was deeply saddened. He sat near Him and asked lovingly \u2013 &#8220;Dear <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakh\u00e2<\/em>! How come You are so sad today? What ails You so? Why have You left the cows and the company of the other boys? Why have You come this far into the forest and sitting alone? What are You thinking?\u201d Sri Krishna gazed at Subal, tarried a while and said, &#8220;Why, nothing is the matter.\u201d Subal pressed further, &#8220;<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Sakh\u00e2<\/em>, don\u2019t try to hide anything from me. I have never seen You so much in pain before. Do tell me what has happened.\u201d Govinda pressed Subal\u2019s right hand to His chest and said, &#8220;Alright <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakh\u00e2<\/em>, I\u2019ll tell you. There is nothing I can hide from you. Everyday when I come cattle grazing, a lovely woman appears before my eyes. I pretend not to see Her. In a way, I neglect Her and come away. When I come to the forest, I play the flute, graze the cattle and try my level best to forget Her. However since a few days, I can understand that my efforts are in vain. Now I know \u2013 that woman knows some sort of witchcraft. Unknown to me, She has entered my heart and is now driving me crazy. I have come the conclusion\u2014O <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakh\u00e2<\/em> &#8211; that I cannot live without Her!\u201d And as Govinda spoke, two drops of tears rolled down His cheeks and fell on Subal\u2019s hands. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">Subal demanded eagerly\u2014&#8221;Who is that woman? Nothing in the universe is comparable to Her loveliness. Or may be She is a portrait drawn in the sky by some celestial artist; I feel She is a golden swan flying in the sky\u2026\u2026\u2026..I have so many thoughts about Her\u2026\u2026as if She is the second phase of the moon,<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span>yet She is second to none. She is the greatest expert of witchcraft, a mirror of <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">l\u00e2vanya<\/em>, condensed sweetness, the effulgent blossom of all excellences, a golden cage imprisoning all beauty\u2026\u2026She appeared only for a fleeting moment to disappear from my sight! Is it a dream? Am I hallucinating, or is it some divine illusion? I cannot understand anything, <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakh\u00e2<\/em>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">Subal replied with confidence, &#8220;Don\u2019t You worry, my dear friend! Sri R\u00e2dhik\u00e2?\u201d Subal said, &#8220;Yes, She is a gem of a woman, there is none so beautiful and sweet as She in all of Gokul. I feel certain that She is the One Who has maddened You.\u201d<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span>Govinda said, &#8220;Sakh\u00e2, even I think so. Two of Her intimate friends had approached me with Her love-letter. After reading it, I was irritated. I had returned the letter and said\u2014I am a cowherd boy\u2014I understand none of these mushy nonsense. I simply graze the cattle and play the flute. Go tell Your <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakhi<\/em> \u2013 a chaste woman should not fall in love with other men \u2013 I outright refuse Her proposition.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">The mah\u00e2jan poet has put Kanh\u00e2i\u2019s refusal nicely \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">&#8220;I angrily refused R\u00e2i, saying, how on earth did You dare to make such a proposal? To accept a married woman is like the scorching fire! I am a wise person learned in <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">dharma<\/em>, how can I sin? Moreover if my friends come to know they will chastise me. Forget in waking hours, I cannot do it even in my dreams!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">Hearing such harsh words from K\u00e2nu, the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakhis<\/em> returned crestfallen. Poet R\u00e2dh\u00e2mohan says that Shy\u00e2msundar\u2019s behavior is puzzling him.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">The <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakhis<\/em> said, &#8220;O Prince of Braj, She is crazy about You. She chants Your name and weeps. She is always lost in Your meditation, please have pity on Her.\u201d Saint poet Gy\u00e2n d\u00e2s has stated \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">&#8220;(the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakhis<\/em> said) \u2013 R\u00e2dh\u00e2 is a delicate doll of butter who is melting in the fire of Your <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">viraha<\/em>. Her golden complexion is suffering the excruciating process of \u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">dash-b\u00e2n<\/em><\/span><\/span><a style=\"mso-footnote-id: ftn3;\" name=\"_ftnref3\" href=\"#_ftn3\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"mso-special-character: footnote;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">\u2019, and I tell You M\u00e2dhav, please do listen to me \u2013 that all She does is, to meditate on Your name. She cries entire day and night, Her lips that are as rosy as <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">b\u00e2ndhuli<\/em> flowers &amp; have turned pale like a bunch of <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Datura<\/em>. Her chignons that flower garlands decorate are now dangling on Her bosom. The necklace of ivory beads is heaving on Her bosom as if a fan is swinging on Mount Sumeru.<\/span><a style=\"mso-footnote-id: ftn4;\" name=\"_ftnref4\" href=\"#_ftn4\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"mso-special-character: footnote;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"> She is finding Her dress too heavy to carry around (it\u2019s falling off). Poet Gy\u00e2na d\u00e2s says that Madan (Love-God) is inflicting too much pain on Her.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\">Govinda told Subal, &#8220;When the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakhis<\/em> brought the love-letter I was irritated and threatened them\u2014you girls better get out of here, otherwise I will go to your house and complain to our parents. Subal lovingly took His hand in his own and consoled Him, &#8220;Dear sakh\u00e2, please don\u2019t cry. I promise to get rid of Your suffering. I will communicate with the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakhis<\/em>. Until then, You sit here and play Your bewitching flute.\u201d Saying thus, Subal went away. Its sweetness makes everything sweet.
