However Hari has turned away from me, and therefore my body is burning in the fire of love. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The she-cuckoo is cooing sweetly while the bees are humming melodiously on the flowers. I am craving so much for Hari that I have decided to give up my body so that I get Him in my next life. All my <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakhis<\/em> sit around me and sing <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Harin\u00e2m<\/em>. On hearing this I sit up (since I had fainted in <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">viraha<\/em>) and start singing in a new <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">r\u00e2ginis<\/em>.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span>Lalit\u00e2 places me on her lap, while Vish\u00e2kh\u00e2 holds me tightly. Poet Shashi Shekhar says \u2013 my Precious One (Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni) is suffering so much pain as if Her heart is bursting. &#8220;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The loving pastimes of Sri Gopin\u00e2th with the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">gopis<\/em> are extraordinarily beautiful. It is devoid of any desire for sense gratification and they only care for each other\u2019s happiness. It is extremely pure and their conjugation is sweet. In the realm of love there is nothing more pure than this. <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Prem <\/em>is a characteristic of Sri <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Bhagav\u00e2n\u2019s<\/em> blissful potency. It arouses in the devotee a desire to serve Sri <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Bhagav\u00e2n<\/em>. Simultaneously, it arouses a desire in Sri <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Bhagav\u00e2n<\/em> to accept <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">prem-sev\u00e2<\/em> from the devotee. Thus we see that Sri Krishna too experiences <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">purva-r\u00e2g <\/em>just like Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni. However there is some difference in Their expressions. Srila Rupa Gosw\u00e2mip\u00e2d has written \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\">&#8220;In the love affair between the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">gopis<\/em> and Gopin\u00e2th, actually Sri M\u00e2dhav should be expressing <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">purva-r\u00e2g<\/em> first, since the lady-love is shy, hesitant and averse. Therefore, usually the lover manifests the symptoms of <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">purva-r\u00e2g <\/em>first. However in this case, the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">gopis<\/em> express <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">purva-r\u00e2g<\/em> before Sri Krishna, and hence this meeting between Sri <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Bhagav\u00e2n<\/em> and <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bhakta<\/em> becomes all the more sweet.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: right;\" align=\"right\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">\u2013 (Ujjwal-Neelmani, Shring\u00e2r bhed \u2013 16)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Govinda has not yet seen Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni; He has simply heard Her name from a <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakhi<\/em>. Immediately His life was in peril. He is revealing His heart to a friend \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">&#8220;<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Sakhi<\/em>! As soon as you uttered the name \u2018R\u00e2dh\u00e2\u2019 my ears and heart soothed. There are so many names in Gokul \u2013 but they never agitate my heart in this manner. How sweet is that name that it has filled my ears with honey! Her beauty is manifesting constantly in my heart and I feel as if I am living in the ocean of <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">amritam.<\/em> I am longing to set my eyes on Her. Poet Jadunandan says \u2013 O my heart! Weep for Govinda.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Immediately on hearing R\u00e2dh\u00e2-<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">n\u00e2m <\/em>Govinda felt the pangs inflicted by the Love-god. Her Holy Name spread His sweetness inside every pore of His body and conquered the empire of His heart. He said further \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">&#8220;Why did you take the name of R\u00e2dh\u00e2? At once it churned my heart! <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Sakhi<\/em>! Why did you utter that name? Now nothing else appeals to me. Please describe Her incomparable beauty. I believe She is <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">amritam <\/em>personified. My eyes are longing to see Her \u2013 says poet R\u00e2dh\u00e2mohan d\u00e2s.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">There is no limit to Sri Krishna\u2018s anxiety. He wandered sometimes in the forest and at other times on the banks of the Yamun\u00e2. The gardens on the banks were so beautiful; the woodlands were so attractive with the birds singing sweetly on beautiful trees. Everything excited Her memory in Him. He was always absorbed in Her and He appeared as if He were present in some far away place. His soul was yearning to see Priy\u00e2ji, to meet Her. One day Srimati was going to the Yamun\u00e2 along with Her <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakhis<\/em> to bathe, and suddenly He got Her <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">darshan<\/em>!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">&#8220;The beautiful and charming R\u00e2dh\u00e2 went to bathe in the K\u00e2lindi, surrounded by Her companions. She looked as beautiful as the flower of <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">k\u00e2nchan-shirish<\/em> and Her effulgence put sunshine to shame. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">O my darling! My Precious One verily stole my heart. She looks so innocent, yet Her restless eyes turned out be an expert thief.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Her soft feet tread daintily on the scorching sand. Seeing this my eyes were full of tears and my <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">lotus<\/em> like eyes wanted to fly under her feet and encase them like sandals. Her eyes stole my heart and now my bosom is empty. The sinful Love-God is burning my body \u2013 poet Gobinda d\u00e2s knows it well.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">On getting Priy\u00e2ji\u2019s <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">darshan<\/em>, Shy\u00e2msundar is sitting with an empty bosom. His heart is on edge. He just keeps on roaming aimlessly. By chance They ever come across each other, Their eyes meet and They exchange smiles. Both of Them make an offering of Their love to one another. In this manner, &#8220;<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">anudin b\u00e2dholo abadhi n\u00e2 gelo\u201d &#8211;<\/em> Their love increased and has now attained the climax. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">On the other hand, Kanhaiy\u00e2\u2019s change of mood has made mother Yashod\u00e2 quite a worried. He is no more interested in butter, and does not even drink up all the milk. She wonders what has happened. Mother is full of maternal love, and so she thinks He is ill. Has some evil planet cast His gaze on her dear child? Is there a handiwork some <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">asur<\/em> or demon behind this? She sought refuge at the lotus feet of Lord N\u00e2r\u00e2yan \u2013 &#8220;Dear Lord, please protect my Gop\u00e2l.\u201d One night mother lovingly put her Gop\u00e2l in bed. When she left the room, all He did the entire night was to float in tears \u2013 He could not think of anything else other than Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2\u2019s sweetness \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">&#8220;Who is this golden <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">lotus<\/em>? Or is She a static lightning? Or am I seeing a golden-<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">champak<\/em>? I don\u2019t know with what to compare this maiden, for R\u00e2i\u2019s complexion is matchless in this world! <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">She is so radiant and Her face is resplendent like the full moon in the Sharad season. Pretty curls surround Her face, while a gem-studded chain adorns the parting of Her hair. Her teeth are as white as <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">kunda<\/em>-buds and honey seems to pour out of Her rosy lips. When She speaks it seems as if an unblemished moon is spewing nectar. A musk-dot sits prettily on Her chin, while wisps of curls surround Her golden cheeks (that resemble the lotus<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">)<\/em><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: red;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\">Two strings of pearls caress Her neck \u2013 they nestle on Her bosom as if the Gang\u00e2 is entwining around golden mountains.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Sh\u00e2nkh\u00e2<\/em>s<\/span><a style=\"mso-footnote-id: ftn2;\" name=\"_ftnref2\" href=\"#_ftn2\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"mso-special-character: footnote;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> dazzle when She swings Her hands and Her fingers are fine like the first phase of the moon. Her palms are like red-<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">lilies<\/em> while the nails gleam like gemstones. She wears pearl rings on Her fingers.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Her waist is so slim that we fear it may break any time; Her hips are so heavy and look beautiful when they sway with the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">kinkini<\/em>-bells tinkling sweetly. Her thighs resemble inverted stems of banana and Her feet are so beautiful that Madan-mohan meditates on them with longing in His heart. Her toes are like rows of champak buds, while the toe-nails shine like mirrors. When She covers Her body with The blue <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">odhni<\/em><\/span><\/span><a style=\"mso-footnote-id: ftn3;\" name=\"_ftnref3\" href=\"#_ftn3\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"mso-special-character: footnote;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\">, it looks as if the demon R\u00e2hu has swallowed the radiant full moon. And as it slips down, you feel that R\u00e2hu is now slowly releasing the moon after the eclipse. This is how poet Jadun\u00e2th feels. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\">In the morning, as usual, mother Yashomati was waking up her Gop\u00e2l \u2013 &#8220;O my darling son Neelmoni! Look, how high the sun has risen! Don\u2019t you want to eat butter?\u201d<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span>&#8211; But oooo mummy! What\u2019s this \u2013 Gop\u00e2l??? Why are your eyes so red and swollen? Did you play too much in the Yamun\u00e2 yesterday? You got sore eyes.\u201d Saying this, mother quickly brought a piece of yellow cloth and said, &#8220;Here, wipe your eyes with this, you\u2019ll feel better.\u201d As soon as He saw the yellow cloth, He remembered the golden-complexioned R\u00e2dh\u00e2. Right in front of His mother a few drops of tears rolled down His cheeks. Mother Yashod\u00e2 was worried and asked Kundalat\u00e2, &#8220;Kunda, my dear child, my Gop\u00e2l has got sore eyes; He is supposed to feel better if He wipes His eyes in a yellow cloth, but I see He is feeling worse, why so?\u201d Kundalat\u00e2 is Sri Krishna\u2019s sister-in-law; she had diagnosed His illness quite rightly. She said with laughter in Her voice \u2013 &#8220;dear M\u00e2, yellow cloth will not cure your son \u2013 better you arrange His marriage. I don\u2019t like the look in His eyes at all.\u201d Mother Nandar\u00e2ni<\/span><a style=\"mso-footnote-id: ftn4;\" name=\"_ftnref4\" href=\"#_ftn4\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"mso-special-character: footnote;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> laughed it off \u2013 &#8220;Kundalat\u00e2 speaks such nonsense! Her milk-baby has hardly crossed six and has now stepped on seven; in fact He\u2019s such a baby, He still hasn\u2019t given up suckling. Her dear Gop\u00e2l doesn\u2019t understand anything about marriage and such topics. All He knows is how to graze the cattle and to play the flute.\u201d Mother has pure maternal feelings; she is no mood to tolerate Kundalat\u00e2\u2019s advice. She has no idea at all that Her son, has crossed the threshold of childhood and is on the brink of youth. Actually, when a devotee is in the parental <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em>, he or she does not get such realization. Sri Krishna-realization is according to the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras <\/em>in which a loving devotee resides. He is the eternal baby to His mother, His <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakh\u00e2s<\/em> find Him a mischievous cow-boy, He appears as the youthful Love-God to the Braja-beauties, while Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni experiences Him verily as Madan-Mohan (the One Who hypnotizes the Love-God). On the other hand, to Putan\u00e2 He is the Omniscient Annihilator. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal; font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">To go cattle-grazing with the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sakh\u00e2s <\/em>is His daily pastime. Once upon a time He used to find it very attractive. Sri Krishna used to look forward to accompanying the Braja-boys with a herd of cattle and go dancing with them.
