FORGIVING PEOPLE

\nWhere do\u00a0i get the idea that if\u00a0‘I<\/span><\/strong>‘ don’t forgive people, THEY suffer?
\nIt’s nuts!<\/p>\n

Let’s say:
\na)\u00a0i\u00a0am\u00a0your boss and\u00a0i give\u00a0you the sack, or
\nb) i am your guru and i have an illicit relation, or worse –<\/p>\n

c) i am your guru and\u00a0i \u00a0give up Krishna !!!!!
\nSo\u00a0you say, “I’ll NEVER forgive you!”
\nWho suffers?<\/p>\n

NOT I !
\nYou get the knot in\u00a0your stomach.
\nYou\u00a0lose the sleep.
\ni am probably out partying!<\/p>\n

If i were in your place i would resent the wrong-doer.<\/p>\n

While I resent the wrong-doer, I SUFFER!
\nMeanwhile I tell myself, “I’m right!”
\nBut being “RIGHT” doesn’t guarantee happiness.<\/p>\n

Naturally, since Lord Gourahari doesn’t like it.<\/p>\n

Here’s the point …
\nTo forgive someone,\u00a0i don’t have to AGREE with what they did.\u00a0
\ni just have to want\u00a0my life to work and bhajan to continue.\u00a0<\/p>\n

i don’t forgive people for THEIR benefit.\u00a0
\ni do it for\u00a0MY benefit.<\/p>\n

So this is\u00a0my mission for the next 24 hours:<\/p>\n

Let me think of someone that has hurt me.
\nJust today, i shall practise letting go of all resentment toward them.<\/p>\n

Gather all\u00a0my ANGRY thoughts –
\nthose “I am right and they are wrong” thoughts,
\nand let them go.\u00a0<\/p>\n

i shall\u00a0use\u00a0my creative imagination …
\n.. put all that resentment into an imaginary balloon,
\nand let it float away.<\/p>\n

Throughout the day, repeat the process.\u00a0
\ni will feel better.<\/p>\n

Forgiving people may be tough, but is possible.\u00a0
\ni forgive people for\u00a0MY benefit.
\nIt makes ME happier.<\/p>\n
