She always relishes the nectar of the tip of Sri Krishna&#8217;s toenail blissfully.\u00a0 There is another reason for conferring the title \u2018<em>Jayashri&#8217;<\/em> on Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2 &#8211; She is able to defeat Gouri, Arundhati and even the maidens of Vraja in beauty, fortune, chastity and wit.\u00a0 Hence, She is called \u2018<em>Jayashri<\/em>&#8216;.\u00a0 \u2018Shri&#8217; means, \u2018Laxmi&#8217;.\u00a0 This Laxmi is a part of Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2. Sri Krishna is <em>Bhagav\u00e2n<\/em> Himself. N\u00e2r\u00e2yan is His \u2018<em>amsha<\/em>&#8216;<a name=\"_ftnref1\" href=\"#_ftn1\"><sup>1<\/sup><\/a>. Similarly, Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2 is Sri Krishna&#8217;s original root potency and Laxmi Devi is Her <em>amsha<\/em>. Scriptures such as Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam refer to Sri Krishna as N\u00e2r\u00e2yan.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<table style=\"height: 156px; text-align: justify;\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\" width=\"142\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td height=\"156\" align=\"left\" valign=\"top\">\n<p><br class=\"spacer_\" \/><\/p>\n<h1>Sri Krishna is the \u2018original N\u00e2r\u00e2yan&#8217;<\/h1>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>n\u00e2r\u00e2yanastvam<\/em> na hi <em>sarvadehin\u00e2m &#8211; \u00e2tmasya<\/em>&#8211;<em>dhisha &#8211; akhila &#8211;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>loka &#8211; s\u00e2kshi,<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>n\u00e2r\u00e2yano&#8217;<\/em> <em>ngam nara-bhuja &#8211; layanat &#8211; tach &#8211; chapi satyam na tavalva maya<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211; [S.B.10.14.4]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sri Chaitanya-Charit\u00e2mrita has explained this verse very beautifully. After the \u2018Brahma-Mohan Leel\u00e2&#8217; (Enchantment of Sri Brahm\u00e2), Lord Brahm\u00e2 is glorifying Sri Krishna in the following manner &#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Brahm\u00e2 says: You are the original N\u00e2r\u00e2yan. I shall tell You the reasons for this. The first reason is that, You are the Super soul of all that exists inside and outside of You. There is no doubt about it. \u2018N\u00e2r&#8217; means \u2018a collection of all&#8217;, while \u2018ayan&#8217; means everyone&#8217;s shelter. Therefore, \u2018N\u00e2r\u00e2yan&#8217; ultimately means that You are the shelter of everything collected together &#8211; that is, \u2018the Super soul of all&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Please hear the second reason why I call You the \u2018original N\u00e2r\u00e2yan&#8217;. Your majesty is so abundant that it surpasses the magnificence of all the other incarnations that You manifest. You are the seed-giving Father and the source of everyone. Hence, I say that You are the root N\u00e2r\u00e2yan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">O Lord! Now I shall explain the third reason for calling You thus. In the infinite universes, there are infinite <em>jivas.<\/em> They perform three types of <em>karma<\/em><a name=\"_ftnref2\" href=\"#_ftn2\"><sup>2<\/sup><\/a> and You are the sole Witness, sure and definite, of all their <em>karma.<\/em> Everything exists because You protect them. Nothing can exist without Your care. You look after all that You shelter, so You are the root N\u00e2r\u00e2yan &#8211; the Protector.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211; (C.C. &#8211; \u00c2di.2.26-37)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Sri Brahma Samhit\u00e2, we see &#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;<em>vishnur-mahan sa iha yasya kala-vishesha,<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>govidam-adi-purusham tamaham bhajami<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Brahm\u00e2 is saying &#8211; &#8220;I pay obeisance to the primeval Lord Govinda Whose fragment is Sri Mah\u00e2vishnu.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hence, Sri Krishna is the primeval N\u00e2r\u00e2yan and Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2 is the primeval Laxmi.\u00a0 Sri Kavir\u00e2j Gosw\u00e2mi has written in Sri Chaitanya-Charit\u00e2mrita &#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;We may classify the consorts of Sri Krishna into three categories<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>\u00a9 Laxmis in Vaikuntha, <\/li>\n<li>\u00a9 the queens in Dw\u00e2rak\u00e2 and <\/li>\n<li>\u00a9 the Vraja-beauties. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The wise say that all the consorts arise from Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2, and the Vraja-beauties are the chief among them. Just as Krishna is the source of N\u00e2r\u00e2yan and all the other incarnations, the three types of consorts are Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2&#8217;s portions. The Laxmis are Her <em>Vaibhav-vil<\/em><em>\u00e2s<\/em>, while the queens are Her <em>Vaibhav-prak\u00e2sh<\/em>. The Vraja-beauties are of different forms and nature and they are Her \u2018<em>K\u00e2ya-vyuha&#8217;<\/em><a name=\"_ftnref3\" href=\"#_ftn3\"><sup>3<\/sup><\/a>. They lend colour to Vraja-<em>ras<\/em> and give pleasure to Sri Krishna.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni is \u2018<em>Jayashri<\/em>&#8216; and the source of all Laxmis, She is very bashful.\u00a0 Therefore, She always fixes Her glance on the tips of the toe-nails of Sri Krishna&#8217;s lotus-feet.
