Srila Krishnad\u00e2s Kavir\u00e2j Gosw\u00e2mi explains why we call Sri Krishna as \u2018Mukunda\u2019<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

As it is, the song of Shy\u00e2m\u2019s flute is maddening enough. Over and above, they, the daughters-in-law of respectable households, have to stop their skirts from falling off constantly! How very embarrassing! <\/span>In fear and shame, they dejectedly tie their skirt-strings, but once more, it comes off. <\/span>Sri Krishna liberates the Gopis <\/em>from the bondage of skirt-strings, the bondage of tresses and lastly, the bondage of their bodice \u2013 hence He is \u2018Mukunda\u2019 (the liberator).<\/strong> Then, How can the strings remain fastened on hearing the flute? The embarrassed Vraja-b\u00e2l\u00e2s<\/em> fearfully hold the slipping strings. On the other hand, the melody of the flute attracts them and makes their heart anxious for Mukunda. Without wasting a single moment, with their hands they gather the skirt around their waists and rush towards Him. Thus, thousands of such young, beautiful and intelligent sweethearts forever surround this \u2018Vastu\u2019. Hence this \u2018Vastu\u2019 is none other than Sri Krishna – the commencor the R\u00e2s<\/em>-dance, as mentioned in Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam. This \u2018Vastu\u2019 is not the same one that the \u00e2gama<\/em><\/span><\/span>1<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> instructs us to meditate upon, since their \u2018Vastu\u2019 is hidden under screens. <\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n
