This \u2018Vastu\u2019 in endowed with a remarkable power \u2013 “hasta-nyastanat<\/em> \u2013 apavargam<\/em>\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 it offers \u2018apavarga<\/em>\u2019 to whosoever performs His bhajan<\/em>. Generally, the word \u2018apavarga<\/em>\u2019 means \u2018liberation\u2019. However, here, \u2018apavarga<\/em>\u2019 means \u2018the blissful body<\/strong> that Sri Krishna offers to His devotee\u2019<\/strong>. In Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam, Sri Krishna has told Uddhav \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“When man gives up all actions and surrenders totally unto me, I desire to make him more special than the gy\u00e2n-yogis<\/span>1<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>, and he then obtains eternal life and becomes my very own.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To explain the above verse, Srila Vishwan\u00e2th Chakravartip\u00e2d has written \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“The word \u2018cha\u2019<\/em> in this verse (the original verse from Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam) signifies that the important thing in bhajan<\/em> is to become a loving associate of Sri Krishna\u201d. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sriman-Mah\u00e2prabhu says that, the body of a surrendered devotee is not material. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>“A devotee surrenders himself at the time of initiation. At that very moment, Krishna makes him His own. He makes the devotee\u2019s body conscious and blissful. The devotee then serves the lotus-feet of Krishna with a divine body.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Apavarga<\/em>\u2019 may also mean \u2018prem-bhakti\u2019<\/em> (love and devotion). In the verse \u2018varna-vidh\u00e2nam<\/em>–apavargashcha\u2019<\/em> of 5th<\/sup> skandha<\/em><\/span><\/span>2<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> of Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam, Sridhar Sw<\/span><\/span>\u00e2<\/span>mi has explained the word \u2018apavarga<\/em>\u2019 as \u2018prem-bhakti\u2019<\/em>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Sanskrit dictionary says \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>“\u2018Apavarga\u2019<\/em> means sacrifice, liberation, termination of action, success<\/strong>.\u201d \u2013 Medini-Kosh<\/span><\/span>3<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Using the last two meanings (termination of action, success<\/strong>), Srila Bhatta Gosw\u00e2mi has thus explained the word \u2018apavarga<\/em>\u2019 \u2013 “Sri Bhagav\u00e2n<\/em> is most merciful and fulfils all the desires of His devotee. Hence, He honours His surrendered devotee with success in bhajan<\/em>, without any delay. <\/span>He bestows \u2018apavarga<\/em>\u2019 to a surrendered devotee.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>This \u2018Vastu\u2019 has another quality \u2013 he is \u2018akhilodaram\u2019<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>(generous). \u2018Akhila\u2019<\/em> means \u2018kalpa-vriksha\u2019<\/em>. However, He is more generous than a \u2018kalpa-vriksha\u2019<\/em>. You cannot get anything from a \u2018kalpa-vriksha\u2019<\/em> without first praying to it. However, the sweet Lord often gives us gifts for which we have not prayed. Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam says \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>“Sri Bhagav\u00e2n<\/em> places His infinitely sweet lotus\u2013feet in the heart of His devotee in order to bless him, even though the devotee may not have wished for it.\u201d -[S.B.5.19.28]<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Akhila<\/em><\/strong>\u2019<\/em> also means \u2018the good qualities of a hero\u2019<\/strong>. In this respect too He is supreme, since He is the treasure house of all good qualities. <\/span>Such a \u2018Vastu\u2019 exists eternally in Sri Vrind\u00e2van. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So far, Srila Kavir\u00e2j Gosw\u00e2mip\u00e2d was explaining the meaning from s\u00e2dhak<\/em> point of view. Now he is describing the poet\u2019s realisation in siddha-swarup. <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
