The s\u00e2dhaks<\/em> of pre-Chaitanya era such as Sri Lil\u00e2shuk and Jayadev were devotees in the mood of sakhis <\/em>in the sweet ras<\/em> of Vraja. The devotional practice in Manjari<\/em>\u2013bh\u00e2v<\/em> is a hitherto unoffered merciful gift distributed by Mah\u00e2prabhu to us.<\/span><\/p>\n

The manjaris<\/em> are also a type of sakhi<\/em>. Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2\u2019s sakhis<\/em> are of five types \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1)<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em>sakhi<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

2)<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>priya \u2013 sakhi<\/span><\/em> (dear friends), <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3)<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>pr\u00e2n\u2013sakhi<\/span><\/em> (soul \u2013 mates), <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4)<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>nitya\u2013sakhi<\/span><\/em> (eternal friends) and <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

5)<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>param\u2013preshtha\u2013sakhi<\/span><\/em> (supremely dear friends) <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We can also classify the sakhis into – <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(1) <\/span>Sama-sneh\u00e2<\/em> (having equal affection for both R\u00e2dh\u00e2 and Krishna), <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(2) <\/span>Krishna-sneh\u00e2\u2013adhik\u00e2<\/em> (having more affection for Krishna) and <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(3) <\/span>R\u00e2dh\u00e2\u2013sneh\u00e2\u2013adhik\u00e2<\/em> (having more affection for R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni.)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Pr\u00e2n<\/em>\u2013sakhis<\/em> and nitya<\/em>\u2013sakhis<\/em> are R\u00e2dh\u00e2\u2013sneh\u00e2\u2013adhik\u00e2<\/em>. They are also called manjaris<\/em>. The Goudiya Vaishnavs must perform devotional practice in Manjari<\/em>\u2013bh\u00e2v<\/em> alone.<\/strong> Their Spiritual Master introduces them to the 11 aspects of their siddha\u2013swarup<\/em>. <\/span>In external form, they have to hear and chant, while internally they must identify themselves with their siddha\u2013swarup<\/em> and meditate on R\u00e2dh\u00e2\u2013Krishna\u2019s service throughout the day. Sriman-Mah\u00e2prabhu has Himself instructed with His sweet lips – <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“b\u00e2hya\u2013antar ih\u00e2r dui to s\u00e2dhan,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

b\u00e2hye s\u00e2dhak\u00e2 dehe kore shraban\u2013kirtan.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

mone nija siddha\u2013deha koriya bh\u00e2ban,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

r\u00e2tri \u2013 din chinte r\u00e2dh\u00e2 \u2013 krishner \u00e2 seban\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Meaning \u2013 “The process of R\u00e2g\u00e2nug\u00e2 bhakti<\/em> has two aspects \u2013 external and internal. Externally the s\u00e2dhak<\/em> has to hear and chant, while, internally he must meditate on his siddha-deha<\/em> and serve Sri Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2-Krishna all day and night in the spiritual Vrajadh\u00e2m.\u201d <\/span>– (C.C. – Madhya.22.89-90) .2.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
