However her expressions do not shine so brilliantly as they do in another higher stage of love called \u2018<em>mohan\u2019<\/em>.\u201d \u2013 (Aananda-Chandrik\u00e2 purport)<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Later on we shall discuss \u2018<em>mohan<\/em>\u2019. Now let us learn the classification of <em>adhirudha-mah\u00e2bh\u00e2v<\/em>.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">Classification     of <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">adhirudha-mah\u00e2bh\u00e2v<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"float: left;\" src=\"http:\/\/kunjeshwari.com\/sweetblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/t1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"74\" \/>&#8220;<em>Adhirudha-mah\u00e2bh\u00e2v<\/em> is of two types \u2013<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0cm; margin-left: 200;\" type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Modan<\/em><\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>M\u00e2dan<\/em>\u201d \u2013      (U.N.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Srimat Jiva Gosw\u00e2mip\u00e2d says \u2013 &#8220;<em>Modan<\/em> and <em>m\u00e2dan<\/em> arise during conjugation only. \u2018<em>Modan<\/em>\u2019 comes from the root \u2018<em>mud<\/em>\u2019. It means \u2018joy\u2019. Hence \u2018<em>modan<\/em>\u2019 indicates the bliss of union. \u2018<em>Mad<\/em>\u2019 is the root for \u2018<em>m\u00e2dan<\/em>\u2019. It means \u2018intoxication\u2019. Thus \u2018<em>m\u00e2dan\u2019<\/em> signifies the intoxication caused by exquisite hone-wine. Here <em>m\u00e2dan<\/em> refers to the blissful intoxication caused by meeting Sri Krishna.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"float: left;\" src=\"http:\/\/kunjeshwari.com\/sweetblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/t2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;When Sri Krishna and Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2 meet one another, They express brilliant ecstasy that is very beautiful. Then we call such a <em>bh\u00e2v<\/em> as <em>modan<\/em>\u201d. \u2013 (U.N.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the stage of <em>rudha-bh\u00e2v<\/em> too the lover expresses ecstasy; however we should remember that the symptoms of ecstasy are inconceivably special in <em>adhirudha-mah\u00e2bh\u00e2v<\/em>. When both Sri Krishna and Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni express these symptoms as they are extraordinarily beautiful, then we can say it is <em>modan<\/em>. Sri Ujjwal-Neelmani says \u2013<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;<em>Modan<\/em> is a supremely rich <em>bh\u00e2v<\/em>. It is present only in the <em>gopis<\/em> of Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni\u2019s group. It does not exist elsewhere. <em>Modan<\/em> is the topmost character or function of <em>hl\u00e2dini shakti<\/em>. It is extremely sweet and lovable. It is also very great. Only Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni and Her group-members have this <em>bh\u00e2v<\/em>. It is not possible in Chandr\u00e2vali or any other group. This proves that Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni and Her <em>sakhis<\/em> are the greatest of all the Vraja-<em>gopis<\/em>.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">Mohan<span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt !msorm;\"><span style=\"mso-prop-change: Author 19000000T0000;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br class=\"spacer_\" \/><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"float: left;\" src=\"http:\/\/kunjeshwari.com\/sweetblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/t3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"105\" height=\"54\" \/>When a lover feels separation her <em>modan-bh\u00e2v<\/em> turns into <em>mohan<\/em>. She is overcome by the pangs of <em>viraha<\/em> and cannot help but express symptoms of ecstasy that are exceptionally brilliant (<em>suddipta<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">This signifies that only in <em>mohan<\/em>, a lover expresses all the signs of ecstasy in a \u2018<em>suddipta<\/em>\u2019 manner. When the lover exhibits each and every ecstatic symptom very brilliantly, that is she displays each sign of ecstasy to the utmost degree, then alone we can call it \u2018<em>suddipta<\/em>\u2019 (prominently brilliant).<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Almost only one person exhibits <em>mohan-bh\u00e2v<\/em> \u2013 and She is Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni \u2013 the Supreme Controller of Vrind\u00e2van.\u201d \u2013 (U.N.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sri Chaitanya-Charit\u00e2mrita describes the <em>suddipta<\/em> signs of ecstasy as displayed by Sriman-Mah\u00e2prabhu when He relished the <em>mohan-bh\u00e2v<\/em> of Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni in Neel\u00e2chal \u2013<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Lord Goursundar\u2019s flesh sprouted pimples all over and His hair stood at their ends. He resembled a <em>Shimuli<\/em><a name=\"_ftnref1\" href=\"#_ftn1\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt;\"><sup>1<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> tree full of thorns. It was scary the way His each tooth rattled and you would think all His teeth will fall off. Perspiration flowed all over His body and on top of that it was oozing blood (All the more why He looked like a <em>Shimuli<\/em> tree). He could utter only <em>\u2018ja ja ga ga\u2019<\/em> since His voice was choked. Tears sprang from His eyes like water from a <em>pichkaari<\/em><a name=\"_ftnref2\" href=\"#_ftn2\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt;\"><sup>2<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> that wet everyone around Him. His complexion would sometimes be golden, and pink the next moment. At other times He would be as radiant as the <em>Mallik\u00e2<\/em><a name=\"_ftnref3\" href=\"#_ftn3\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 9pt;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt;\"><sup>3<\/sup><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a> flowers. Sometimes He would be stupefied and the next moment He would be rolling on the earth; at other times He would lie like a stiff dry log. He would fall on the earth and lie without breathing \u2013 seeing this devotee would nearly die.\u201d \u2013 (C.C.Madhya.102-108)<\/p>\n<p><br class=\"spacer_\" \/><\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Symptoms  of <em>mohan<\/em><\/span><\/em><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"float: left;\" src=\"http:\/\/kunjeshwari.com\/sweetblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/t4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"211\" height=\"56\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The signs of <em>mohan<\/em> as glorified by the wise are as follows \u2013<\/p>\n<ol style=\"margin-top: 0cm;\" type=\"1\">\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 35;\">Sri Krishna faints in spite of being embraced by His consorts<\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 35;\">The lover bears intense pain and still desires only      Sri Krishna\u2019s happiness.<\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">It agitates the entire universe.<\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Even the animals weep.<\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The lover is ready to accept death and wants to      quench her thirst for Sri Krishna with the remnants of Her bodily elements.<\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Divine lunacy\u201d. \u2013 (U.N.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">We shall now discuss these points in detail.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1. Sri Krishna faints in spite of being embraced by His consorts<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;When Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni Who is in Vraja, feels <em>mohan-bh\u00e2v<\/em>, Sri Krishna Who is in Dw\u00e2rak\u00e2, faints in spite of being embraced by His queens such as Rukmini and Satyabh\u00e2m\u00e2.\u201d \u2013 (Aananda-Chandrik\u00e2 purport)<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">This shows the impact of <em>mohan<\/em> on the object of love (in this case, Sri Krishna).<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 18pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: -18pt;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2.<\/span><\/strong> <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The lover bears intense pain and still desires only Sri Krishna\u2019s happiness<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 18pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: -18pt;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">In spite of suffering from unbearable pain the lover wishes to please Sri Krishna. When Sri Uddhav asked Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni before departing from Vrajadh\u00e2m \u2013 &#8220;Dear Radhe, what message shall I gift Sri Krishna on Your behalf?\u201d Then Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni replied \u2013 &#8220;O Uddhav, if Mukunda would have come to this cattle-field, we would be extremely happy \u2013 it is true. However if this causes even the slightest loss to Him, then He should never come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 18pt; text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 18pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: -18pt;\">&lt; ! [if !supportLists]&#8211;&gt;<strong>3.<span style=\"font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal;\"> <\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">It agitates the entire universe<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Mohan bh\u00e2v<\/em> has such a powerful impact on the material and divine worlds that Sri Ujjwal-Neelmani describes \u2013<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;When Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni Who was in <em>mohan-bh\u00e2v<\/em> <em>prem<\/em>-exhaled, the love-smoke pervaded the universe and humankind yelled in pain, the <em>N\u00e2gas<\/em> (celestial serpents) are agitated, the heavenly beings perspire profusely and even Kamal\u00e2 <em>devi<\/em> in Vaikuntha, shed abundant tears. In this manner, all universes, although joyous, was extremely miserable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">4.  Even the animals weep<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">When Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni heard that Sri Krishna had gone to Dw\u00e2rak\u00e2, She was seated in a <em>kunja<\/em> on the banks of the K\u00e2lindi. Hearing this terrible news She covered Herself with His golden yellow robe and embraced a beautiful creeper. Then She let out such a heart-rending cry that even the fish and other aquatic animals of the K\u00e2lindi wailed with Her.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">5.  The lover is ready to accept death and wants to quench her thirst for Sri Krishna with the remnants of Her bodily elements<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Mah\u00e2jan has described \u2013<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>&#8220;j\u00e2h\u00e2n pohuaruno charane choli j\u00e2to,<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>t\u00e2nh\u00e2 t\u00e2nh\u00e2 dharani hoie mojhu g\u00e2to.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>jo sarobare pohu niti niti n\u00e2ho,<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>mojhu anga salilo hoi tathi m\u00e2ho.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>e sakhi biroho morono nirodondo,<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>oichhe milobo jobo gokulochando.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>jo darapane pohu nijo mukho ch\u00e2ho,<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>mojhu anga-jyoti hoi tathi m\u00e2ho.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>jo beejane pohu beejoi g\u00e2to,<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>mojhu anga t\u00e2nhi hoi mridu b\u00e2to.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>j\u00e2nh\u00e2 pohu bharamoi jaladhara shy\u00e2mo,<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>mojhu anga gagano hoi tochhu th\u00e2mo.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>gobinda d\u00e2so oho k\u00e2nchano gori,<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>so rasamoy tonu tohe kiye chhori.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meaning &#8211; &#8220;Wherever His rosy feet tread, I wish my body to mingle with the earth there. May my body turn into water of the lake my Beloved bathes everyday. Dear <em>sakhi<\/em>, I do not hesitate to die in <em>viraha<\/em> if I can get the Moon of Gokul (Sri Krishna) by doing so. When my Beloved looks at Himself in the mirror, may my radiance illuminate that room (to enable Him to gaze at Himself). When my Beloved is fanned, may my body be the soft breeze blowing on Him. When I mistake the dark clouds as Shy\u00e2m, may my body become the sky that holds such clouds. Poet Gobinda d\u00e2s says \u2013 O golden maiden, Your body is so full of <em>ras <\/em>&#8211; why do you want to give it up?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">6. Divine lunacy <\/span><\/strong>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 18pt; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is the topmost symptom of <em>mohan-bh\u00e2v<\/em>. Sri Ujjwal-Neelmani says &#8211;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Divine lunacy has an aura of illusion. It is an inexpressible characteristic of <em>mohan-bh\u00e2v\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">True, divine lunacy is an extraordinary event in the realm of <em>bh\u00e2v<\/em>. It has an aura of illusion. However the lover, who experiences this <em>bh\u00e2v<\/em>, is not really in any illusion. A delusion appears in the lover\u2019s heart only because she is immersed in extreme <em>bh\u00e2v<\/em>! Due to this when Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni experiences divine lunacy; She mistakes the clouds and the <em>Tamaal<\/em> to be Sri Krishna! When Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni is overwhelmed by <em>viraha<\/em> She has so many hallucinations. Her sweet lamentations form an incomparable priceless treasure in the empire of Vaishnav literature. Her expressions of grief are the highest truth and the topmost relish for all devotees who have entered the sphere of <em>bhajan.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Divine lunacy is extremely difficult concept. This craziness is transcendental or beyond the material world. When someone in the material world goes mad, he is in illusion, however divine lunacy has an aura of delusion, yet it is the supreme truth, since the lover has only one person in Her sub-consciousness \u2013 and He is none other than Sri Krishna \u2013 Who is \u2018<em>satyam<\/em> <em>shivam<\/em> <em>sundaram<\/em>\u2019<a name=\"_ftnref4\" href=\"#_ftn4\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt;\"><sup>4<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>. Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam (11.2.40) describes divine lunacy as follows \u2013<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>&#8220;evam vratah swapriya-n\u00e2ma-kirty\u00e2 j\u00e2t\u00e2nur\u00e2go drutachitta uchchaih,<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>hasatyatha roditi routi g\u00e2y\u00e2tyunm\u00e2davannarityati lokab\u00e2hyah.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meaning and explanation &#8211; &#8220;When one gains <em>anur\u00e2g<\/em>, sometimes he laughs loudly like a madman<a name=\"_ftnref5\" href=\"#_ftn5\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt;\"><sup>5<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>, and at other times he weeps. He screams, sings and dances. Although this devotee appears to be crazy like a material lunatic, he is far from it. An ordinary madman suffers from a miserable illness, while an <em>anur\u00e2gi <\/em>devotee is verily liberated from the dreadful disease of material desires and is wandering in the transcendental empire of <em>ras<\/em>! A mentally retarded person is immersed in the darkest hallucinations, while <em>prem<\/em>-crazy devotee is advancing towards the transcendental abode called \u2018Golok-dh\u00e2m\u2019 \u2013 the divine place of eternal bliss! One is ignorant while the other is intoxicated with divine joy!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">However divine lunacy is far above the description in Srimad-Bh\u00e2gavatam. In this stage the lover constantly relishes revelations of Sri Krishna and incessantly wanders in the realm of <em>ras<\/em>. She sees Vrind\u00e2van everywhere and beholds Sri Krishna\u2019s divine pastimes wherever she gazes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">We see that the mesmerizing flute forces the maidens of Vraja to forsake self-control, righteousness and bashfulness \u2013 they ramble through the woods of Vrind\u00e2van like ones possessed. They ask the trees, creepers and shrubs about Sri Krishna. <strong>Undoubtedly, a colossal maddening-<em>shakti<\/em> is working on them, yet their madness is nothing as compared to divine lunacy<\/strong>. It is not all that special. Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni alone has the monopoly over this priceless gem called \u2018divine lunacy\u2019. And we are fortunate that we belong to this <em>Kaliyug<\/em>, when Sri Goursundar has relished the sweet <em>ras<\/em> of this divine lunacy. Srila Krishnad\u00e2s Kavir\u00e2j Gosw\u00e2mi has written \u2013<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;During the last twelve years of His divine pastimes, Lord Goursundar constantly expressed <em>sphurti<\/em> in Sri Krishna\u2019s <em>viraha.<\/em> He manifested the same symptoms as Srimati R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni did when She met Uddhav. The Lord incessantly displayed divine lunacy in Sri Krishna\u2019s <em>viraha<\/em>. He manifested such ecstatic symptoms all day and night. It was as if He was in illusion and He only lamented. Blood oozed form His pores and His teeth rattled. At one moment He would become thin and the very next moment His body would bloat up. He did not sleep a wink in <em>Gambhir\u00e2.<\/em> He would rub his face and head on the walls and get wounded. The house had three gates, yet the Lord would go out! Sometimes He fell near the Lion-gate and at other times, in the sea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sometimes He would mistake the Chatak hill as Govardhan and rush towards it wailing piteously. When He saw a garden He would think it was Vrind\u00e2van. He would go there and start singing and dancing. The next moment He would faint. The Lord expressed such symptoms of <em>bh\u00e2v<\/em> that no one has even heard before. The joints of His hands and legs would come loose; the bones would separate from each other, although the skin remained in place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">At times the Lord\u2019s head, legs and hands would enter inside the body and He would resemble a turtle. In this manner the Lord exhibited remarkable signs of ecstasy. His heart was empty and He would only grieve. He wailed \u2013\u2018O what do I do? Where do I go? How do I get Vrajendranandan? Where is my Beloved Murali-vadan? To whom do I express my sorrow and who can understand my grief?
