A <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bh\u00e2v<\/em> that subjugates all other <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bh\u00e2vs<\/em> whether positive or negative and looms high over them \u2013 we call such a <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bh\u00e2v<\/em> as \u2018permanent\u2019. The Bhakti-literatures call the passion for Sri Krishna as \u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v\u2019<\/em>.\u201d \u2013 (B.R.S.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Verdana;\">Our <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v <\/em>intermingles with the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bh\u00e2vs <\/em>such as <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">vibh\u00e2v<\/em> etc. and is transformed into <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em>. On its own <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">vibh\u00e2v<\/em> cannot make us realize <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em>. It just causes us to express <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">anubh\u00e2vs<\/em> (symptoms). The <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Vy\u00e2bhich\u00e2ri<\/em> (passing) <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bh\u00e2vs<\/em> only help <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">anubh\u00e2v.<\/em> None of these <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bh\u00e2vs<\/em> can create <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em> in us if we do not have \u2018<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v<\/em>\u2019. When our <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v <\/em>mingles with three other <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bh\u00e2vs<\/em>, then it is the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v<\/em> that turns into <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras.<\/em> We have to be very clear about this. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v <\/em>is permanent, whereas the other <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bh\u00e2vs<\/em> such as <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">vibh\u00e2v<\/em> etc. change. Hence although the other <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">bh\u00e2vs<\/em> do make us express <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em>, they are not the source of <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras.<\/em> <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v <\/em>is a form of the great power called Hl\u00e2dini <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Shakti.<\/em> It is inconceivable. Therefore <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v <\/em>is permanent and so is <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em>. We repeat \u2013 when <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v <\/em>matures, we realize <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em>. <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v <\/em>has only one function \u2013 to please Sri <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Bhagav\u00e2n<\/em>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Verdana;\">Here, we may question \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Verdana;\">You said \u2013 &#8220;<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v <\/em>transforms into <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras.<\/em>\u201d In the same breath you are saying \u2013 <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v <\/em>and <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em> are both permanent. Are you not contradicting yourself? When one thing changes into another, it does not remain. This means, when <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v <\/em>will turn into <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em>, the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v <\/em>will not exist any more, since now it is <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras!<\/em> Then how can you call <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v <\/em>permanent? Also how can you call <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em> as permanent? Since it has taken birth from <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v <\/em>\u2013 which means, earlier it did not exist.
