He considers himself as the protector and thinks he is responsible for Him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Since the devotee in <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">v\u00e2tsalya-ras<\/em> has all the above qualities, this <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras <\/em>is as delicious as nectar.\u201d \u2013 (C.C.Madhya.19.185-187)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">V\u00e2tsalya-rati <\/em>is the permanent (<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v<\/em>) of the devotee in <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">v\u00e2tsalya-ras<\/em>. Sri Krishna is the subject of this <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras.<\/em> How is He?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">&#8220;He is soft, dark and serene like a garland of fresh blue lotuses. His eyes are shaped like lotus-petals and their corners are playing restlessly. His thick black eyelashes resemble black bees hovering around the lotus (His eyes). When Vrajeshwari Mother Yashod\u00e2 saw her beautiful son playing in the dust of Vraja, she wet her body with milk that flowed involuntarily from her breasts.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: right;\" align=\"right\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">\u2013 (B.R.S. 3.4.3)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Thus Sri Krishna, Who is dark, handsome, endowed with excellent qualities, soft, sweet-spoken, simple, innocent, well-mannered, respectful and kind, is the subject of this <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras.<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The Queen of Vraja (Yashod\u00e2-m\u00e2t\u00e2), Rohini-m\u00e2t\u00e2, the Aunties, the <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Gopis<\/em> whose sons Brahm\u00e2ji had stolen, Devaki, her co-wives, Kunti, Vasudev, S\u00e2ndipani Muni (His teacher) and other elders are the shelter of this <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em>. This list is arranged in descending order of love. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">What excites <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">v\u00e2tsalya ras<\/em>? The child-form, childish beauty and attire, babyish pranks, sweet speech, smile and <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">leel\u00e2s<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">What are the reactions of a devotee in this <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras? <\/em>She kisses Sri Krishna\u2019s forehead, caresses Him, blesses Him, and commands Him. She bathes Him, cares for Him and instructs Him about His welfare. A devotee in <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">v\u00e2tsalya ras <\/em>also displays 9 types of silent reactions &#8211; 8 of them being stupefaction etc. and an additional one \u2013 milk flowing from the breasts. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The passing moods are \u2013 joy, strong emotion, eagerness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">sth\u00e2yi-bh\u00e2v<\/em> of the devotee mingles with <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">v\u00e2tsalya-rati <\/em>and becomes <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">v\u00e2tsalya<\/em>&#8211;<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em>. An example of this <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">ras<\/em> \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Yashod\u00e2 and Rohini were so full of love for Gop\u00e2l that milk would flow spontaneously from their breasts. He would get covered with dirt from head to toe \u2013 this was His <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">anga-r\u00e2g<\/em><\/span><\/span><a style=\"mso-footnote-id: ftn1;\" name=\"_ftnref1\" href=\"#_ftn1\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt;\"><span style=\"mso-special-character: footnote;\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; color: #800080;\"><sup>1<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> &#8211; yet they would pick up both beautiful babies (Krishna and Balar\u00e2m) onto their laps.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span>Then they would breast-feed Them. When the babies would suckle, the mothers would gaze lovingly at Their enchanting smile that revealed few tiny teeth.
