Srila Bhatta Gosw\u00e2mip\u00e2d says, Sri Lil\u00e2shuk is praying to behold Sri Krishna embraced very tightly by Vrajabeauties who are intoxicated by the R\u00e2s\u2013ras<\/em> during the Mah\u00e2r\u00e2s<\/em>. He is saying \u2013”Dear Krishna! I wish to behold Your most amazing gorgeous body that is the repose of supremely great celebration.\u201d That body is \u2018astoka \u2013 smita \u2013 bharam\u2019<\/strong><\/em> \u2013 exhibiting too many smiles. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

“He is a Kishor and He oozes ras<\/em> of passion. Moreover, He is graced with sidelong glances. When He rocks with laughter, my heart too rocks and I have a strong feeling that I want to surrender my youth at His altar.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Whoever sees Him even once cannot forget Him. He is the very embodiment of nectar. Poet Ananta d\u00e2s says \u2013 \u2018there is no living entity that will not be mesmerized by this beauty\u2019.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“He is so attractive and brilliant like a cloud laden with water! He smiles slightly and expresses His longing through rose-tipped eyes. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What did I see today! The charming N\u00e2gar<\/em> \u2013 beneath the \u2018keli kadamba \u2013<\/em> tree\u2019<\/span>[2]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>. On seeing that beauty, the bashfulness of my eyes was washed away in tears of joy.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Also, that resplendent body is \u2018\u00e2yata \u2013 \u00e2yata \u2013 \u00e2ksham<\/em>\u2019,<\/strong> meaning, \u2018the One whose eyes are larger and larger. What beauty those eyes, wide open with love, are radiating!\u2019<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As such, His eyes reach the ears. Over and above, they have become larger due to love for the Vraj\u00e2ngan\u00e2s<\/em> who have come to participate in the R\u00e2s<\/em>. On top of that, they are exulting hundreds and hundred of bh\u00e2v<\/em>s full of erotic ras!<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

“His body is attractive like sparkling dark clouds full of loveliness. <\/span>His attire is so alluring! His rose-tipped eyes seem to flash lightning all around, razing to ashes all shame and dignity of respectable ladies.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sweetheart! Ever since I have seen K\u00e2n\u00e2 (Krishna) I have been pierced with a host of flower\u2013tipped arrows and I can see nothing else but Him.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gazing at my face, He turned with a smile and dropped His hypnotic flute. I don\u2019t know what desire He was anxious to fulfill, that made Him bite a newly blossomed leaf. Since then my heart has been burning and wavering restlessly. Poet Govinda d\u00e2s had given me false hopes \u2013 I know I will not meet K\u00e2n\u00e2 again.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Also, that body is \u2018vraj\u00e2ngan\u00e2bhit<\/em> \u2013 nihshesha \u2013 stanam \u2013 riditam\u2019<\/em><\/strong>,<\/em> Meaning, \u2018tightly embraced by high breasted Vrajab\u00e2l\u00e2s<\/em>\u2019.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

He is also \u2018nihsima \u2013 stavakita \u2013 nila \u2013 k\u00e2nti \u2013 dharma<\/strong>,<\/em>\u2019 meaning, \u2018wherever He is being embraced by the Vrajab\u00e2l\u00e2s<\/em>, that place is becoming illuminated by bouquets of blue radiance.\u2019 <\/span>Srip\u00e2d Shukamuni has described Sri Krishna\u2019s extreme beauty when in contact with the Vrajadevis<\/em> during R\u00e2s\u2013Leel\u00e2<\/em> \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Bhagav\u00e2n<\/em> Krishna, the son of Devaki, radiated extreme beauty in that R\u00e2s\u2013mandal<\/em> (round gathering), being flanked by the golden\u2013complexioned Vraja-beauties just as an excellent emerald sparkles amidst gold\u2013coloured gems.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Our preceptors have explained this verse of Srimad-Bhaagavatam – <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Bhagav\u00e2n<\/em> Sri Krishna has gained a beautiful shade as that of a pale bluish\u2013green excellent emerald because He has come in contact with the brilliance of the supremely beautiful molten\u2013gold complexioned Gopis.<\/em> Hence He has been likened to an \u2018excellent\u2019 emerald.\u201d <\/span>– [Vaishnav\u2013Toshani purport]<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the text \u2018Alank\u00e2r\u2013Kaustubh\u2019 we find the description of the ever-increasing extreme beauty of the Divine Couple when they meet each other \u2013<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Sri R\u00e2dhik\u00e2\u2019s bright golden complexion is making Sri Krishna\u2019s blue complexion appear like an emerald while Sri Krishna\u2019s brilliance is making Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2\u2019s splendor look greenish. When They reside separately, then Sri R\u00e2dh\u00e2 appears purely golden while Sri Krishna appears purely blue. But when They are together their splendors mingle and radiate different shades.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Mah\u00e2jan has described how Sri Krishna\u2019s and the Gopis\u2019<\/em> sweetness nourish each other during the R\u00e2s<\/em>\u2013dance \u2013<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

“The R\u00e2s<\/em>\u2013dance looked like a necklace made of golden gems (since the Gopis<\/em> were of golden complexion.) In between, Shy\u00e2m the great dancer, Who resembled an excellent emerald, reigned supreme.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

All glory, all glory to the most beautiful R\u00e2s<\/em>\u2013sport wherein clouds<\/span>[3]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> moved swiftly amidst still lightning<\/span>[4]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> and showered ras<\/em> endlessly.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

So many moons (the Gopis<\/em>) romanced with the night (the dark complexioned Krishna) and the night romanced with so many moons. Their bodies were entwined in such a manner as if Swarnalat\u00e2[5]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> <\/em>were embracing so many Tam\u00e2l trees.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

So many lotuses<\/span>[6]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> sang at the top of their voice while the gallant bumblebee<\/span>[7]<\/sup><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> followed suit. Along with the bumble bee sang so many lotuses, poet Govinda d\u00e2s was enchanted!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The colour of the erotic ras<\/em> is blue. Sri Krishna is full of erotic ras;<\/em> So He is the Blue\u2013beauty (Shy\u00e2mal sundar). In adolescence, He looks extraordinarily beautiful. Moreover, when He is with the deeply loving mah\u00e2bh\u00e2v<\/em>\u2013filled dalliant damsels of Vraja during the R\u00e2s\u2013Leel\u00e2<\/em>, due to the extreme exultation of the erotic ras,<\/em> Sri Krishna\u2019s bluish radiance becomes exceedingly wonderful.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Also, that same Person is the handsomest in all creation. The form of Sri Krishna absorbed in the R\u00e2s\u2013ras<\/em> is indeed the crest\u2013jewel of all Beauty. No one, not even the Brijw\u00e2sis, except the Vraj\u00e2ngan\u00e2s <\/em>can behold this supremely handsome Sri Krishna, indulging in R\u00e2s.<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

According to Srila Chaitanya d\u00e2s, in this verse Sri Lil\u00e2shuk is praying to get darshan<\/em> of Sri Krishna Who has just arisen from the bed of love along with Priy\u00e2ji (R\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2ni).28.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
