Radhe Radhe !!

Come Brâhma-muhurta, and i get this fantastic notes from His Holiness Shachinandan Maharaj’s charan-âshritâ[1] Sadanandi Mataji, which she made during a seminar by Dr. Tanmay Gosvami on “Ayurveda and the mind.”

How could i not share it with you, my dear sweet devotees? Here she quotes:

Unfortunately we are not satisfied with our gifts we have got from Krishna and always desire what others have (as a saying goes: the other side of the fence is always greener). This doesn’t make us happy and we don’t appreciate what we’ve got, the space and abilities we have.
We become restless with our desires. That is the wrong attitude; instead we should just start living with the flow. Desires cannot disturb us when we have an aim in life. Our aim is our sâdhanâ (leading to the sâdhya), consistency and enthusiasm. So, we should be aware of that what Krishna has given to us and be like fishes in the water: living in the water but not getting affected by it.

But, instead, we often feel in life like a hurdler: he has to run 100 meters, and on his way are many hurdles waiting for him. To overcome them he has to jump. While jumping, he may stumble or stop shortly. He may even hit a hurdle and hurt himself. When he looks to his side, he sees a 100 meter sprinter. This person goes the same way in high speed and just rushes by without having any hurdle on his path. Now, the hurdler has two choices:

  1. Either he compares himself with the sprinter and becomes sad, because he has to face and overcome so many hurdles and the sprinter doesn’t. He may feel even treated unjustly and be frustrated.
  2. Or, he just focuses on the hurdles on his way, takes them happily, smiling, understanding that there is no other way, if he wants to reach the goal. And so he continues to take one hurdle after the other with a smile on his face.

Now, the sprinter, seeing the happy smile on the face of the hurdler may wonder, “Oh, he is so happy, in spite of having to take so many hurdles. Maybe something is wrong with my way?”

On the other side of the hurdler may be a marathon runner. Although having no hurdles, he may have to run much slower, so that he also will be able to reach his goal which still lies far in the distance. So, each one of them has to act according to their way ahead of them to be able to reach the goal. But all of them have the ability to reach it, by their own pace. Their ways look different, their experiences will be different, but they all will reach their goal.

 Jay Radhe !!!!!!!!!!

  1. Radhe Radhe! That’s why parātma-nishṭhā is called for! Mostly devotees feel so, but none normally leaves his path, having practiced so far & gone so far! 😀 Ours is indeed a hurdler’s path, I’d say! 😆
