Good reason to become Krishna-devotee

Brahmaji created the donkey, and told him, “You will be donkey, working constantly from dusk to dawn, carrying heavy loads on your back. You will eat grass and lack intelligence. You will live for 50 years.”

The donkey answered, “To live like this for 50 years is too much. Please, give me no more than 20.”

And it was so.

Then Brahmaji created the dog, and told him, “You will hold vigilance over the dwellings of Man, to whom you will be his greatest companion. You will eat his table scraps and live for 25 years.”

And the dog responded, “Lord, to live 25 years as a dog like that is too much. Please, no more than 10 years.”

And it was so.

Brahmaji then created the monkey, and told him, “You are monkey. You shall swing from tree to tree, acting like an idiot. You will be funny, and you shall live for 20 years.”

And the monkey responded, “Lord, to live 20 years as the clown of the world is too much. Please, Lord, give me no more than 10 years.”

And it was so.

Finally, Brahmaji created Man and told him, “You are Man, the only rational being that walks the earth. You will use your intelligence to have mastery over the creatures of the world. You will dominate the earth and live for 20 years.”

And the man responded, “Lord, to be Man for only 20 years is too little. Please, Lord, give me the 30 years the donkey refused, the 15 years the dog refused, and the 10 years the monkey rejected.”

And it was so.

And so Brahmaji made Man to live 20 years as a man, then marry and live 30 years like a donkey working and carrying heavy loads on his back. Then, he is to have children and live 15 years as a dog, guarding his house and eating the leftovers after his kids empty the pantry; then, in his old age, to live 10 years as a monkey, acting like an idiot to amuse his grandchildren.

So………………the more quickly we become Krishna-devotee, the better it is for us. In fact, this is the most intelligent thing to do. Then we will spend all our time serving Sri Krishna, and not Maya, since we will realize that to slog for the family is ‘shrama eva kevalam’. In the old age, in stead of becoming an amusing toy in the hands of our children and grandchildren, we will settle in Dham and spend our time in blissful bhajan. Of course, for this, we will have to start preparing from now itself, and become serious meditationists.

  1. Radhe Radhe! Hmm I heard this story from one of my Chemistry teachers! But to add the last paragraph’s component one really needs to be a devotee too! 🙂
  2. Men have it easy. At least they are not forced to live with their in-laws. Just imagine what women have to go through, especially in India, living under the nose of their in-laws as if in a prison ward, carrying a heavy, painful burden in her womb for 9 months and then giving an even more painful birth to that burden. All the while still living under the nose of her in-laws who more than likely are complaining about the poor dowry received from her family, and being lucky if she doesn’t get beaten or set on fire with kerosene in a “kitchen accident”. Shastric stories and examples always use men as the default of how “difficult” samsarik life is when ironically the best example of difficulty is staring everyone in the face but nobody writes about that: The Life and Times of a Bharatiya Bahu! I’d like to know what Brahmaji has to say about that! 😈
  3. So what u want to say—some component of life men should live as Bhartiya Bahu? LOL Well, He has already delayed the age of marriage through Indian govt & eased the tensions through sooo many saas-bahu serials, lectures & laws…
  4. “So what u want to say—some component of life men should live as Bhartiya Bahu?”…………… In your next life, Vishwajeet. Next life…. 😎
  5. Do you know Brahma-er Vimohan and V, i just wanted to gleefully share with you that i am the one and only Indian woman who NEVER went to the in-laws home, and in stead got married in my own home and stayed here…………..permanently 😆 After all, being a born-Krishna-lover should get me some benefits, what? :)))))))))) BTW, Radhe Radhe !!!
  6. Radhe Radhe! Yeah, that’s why he prays:
kabe vṛṣabhānu-pure, āhīrī gopera ghare tanayā haiyā janamiba
