Sri Dhameshwar

Sri Nabadweep Dhameshwar

Sri Sri Gourānga mahāprahu said with his holy lips –

“dekhi sārbabhouma dandabat kori,

punah uthi stab kore dui kor juri.

prabhur kripāy tānr sfurilo sob tattvas,

nām prem dān ādi borner mahatta.

shata shlok koilo ek danda nā jāite,

brihaspati toichhe shlok nā pare barnite.”

–          (Sri Chaitanya Bhāgabat)

Meaning – “Whosoever hears or reads these hundred verses composed by you will definitely obtain my Bhakti ! May Sārvabhouma-shatak remain forever glorious !”

“pranamya tvām prabhogoura tava pāde shatam bruve,

sadā shayānām sādhunām sukhārtham me kripām kuru”.1.

Meaning – “Dear Lord Gourānga ! With obeisance unto you, I offer these hundred verses at your lotus feet; these verses are composed for the pleasure of the well-meaning devotees. O Munificent One ! Please shower your mercy on me !” 1.

srirāhdākrishnayoh sevām sthāpayitvā grihe grihe,

srimat sankirtane goura nrityati preme bihvalah .2.

Meaning – “O devotees ! Please see how, after having installed the seva of Sri Sri Rādhā-Krishna in every home, Sri Gourasundar is dancing so wonderfully in the Sankirtan ! Behold how he is overwhelmed with the bliss of Prem !” 2.

jihvāyām harināmasādhana mohadhārāshatam netrayoh,

sarvānge pulakodgamo niravashi swedashcha vibhrājate.

srimad gourahare pragalbha madhurā bhakti pradāturjanaih,

seva sribraha-yoshitām-anugatā nityā sadā shikshyate .3.

Meaning – “Just see how my Beloved Gourānga is uttering the sweet Holy Name in order to gift the extremely sweet ras of Hari-Bhakti to the material world ! His eyes are shedding torrential tears of blissful love ! His entire body is full of goose bumps and drenched in perspiration ! Kaliyug is inflicting untold suffering on the living beings. My Beloved Gourānga,  following in the footsteps of the Brajagopis,   is teaching every moment how to serve Sri Sri Yugal-Sarkar  in the mood of Vrajadhā , and thereby offering salvation to the Kaliyug-afflicted souls.” .3.

“kalimala patitānām shoka-mohāvritānām,

nijajana patisevā vita-chintākulānām.

iti samajani gourastrāna hetum vichintya,

prakata madhura deho nāmadātā kripāluh” .4.

Meaning –  The jivas are fallen in the filthy ocean of Kaliyug, and they are overwhelmed with misery and illusion. They are simply engaged in serving their relatives, spouse and children. They are suffering from an illness called ‘kaliyug’; Sri Sri Gourachandra is so munificent that he could not remain still when he saw these unfortunate jivas who are perpetually dogged by misery. He started thinking how to deliver these jivas. As a result he came as a poor beggar in the supremely handsome and sweet form of Shachinandan Gourahari ! Thus he appeared in Sridhām Nabadweep and freely distributed the Holy name. 4.

sri srimat krishna-chaitanye jagat-trānaika kartari,

yo mudhe bhaktihin syāt pachyate narake dhruvam 5.

The jivas of this material world have no savior other than Sri Chaitanya Mahāprabhu. Whosoever does not have Bhakti for his lotus feet is very foolish and he will most certainly suffer untold miseries and rot in hell .5.

yah krishno rādhayā kunje vilāsa kritavān purā,

gadādharena samyuktah sa gouro vasate bhuvi.6.

The same Sri Krishna who used to perform loving sports with Sri Radha in the secluded flower-grove of Vrindāban, is now performing Leelas along with Sri Gadādhar Pandit in this world. 6.

“samsāra sarpa-dashtānām murchhitānām kalouyuge,

oushadham bhaganāmam Srimad-vaishnava sevanam”. 7.

Meaning –  The jivas are inflicted with Kalliyug. The material world is like a venomous snake, and has bitten the jivas. As a result they are burning in poison. Illusion has overpowered them. They can be revived only by the medicine called ‘Sri Harinām Sankirtan’ and ‘Vaishnav-sevā’. 7.

“vishayāvishta murkhānām chitta samskāram oushadham,

vishrambhena guroh seva vaishnavochchhishta bhojanam” 8.

Meaning –  The people are foolishly engrossed in material pleasures. The only sure respite for them is to serve with strong faith the lotus feet of Sri Gurudev and partake Vaishnav-uchchhishta. 8.

vande sri guru karunāsindhum sri chaitanyam mahāprabhum,

kripām kuru jaganātha ! tava dāsya dadaswa me . 9.

Meaning –  I bow unto the lotus feet of Sri Chaitanya Mahāprabhu who is the Ocean of Munificence ! My dear Lord of the Universe ! Please have mercy on me and make me your slave ! 9.

“dāsya te kripayā nātha ! dehi dehi mahāprabho,

patitānām premadātā’sya heto yāche punah punah .10.

Meaning –  My dear Lord ! I am a most fallen sinner, I beg repeatedly at your lotus feet – please make me your slave ! 10.

“samsāra-sāgare magnam patitam trāhi mām prabho,

deenoddhāre samartha stamaste sharanam gatah” .11.

Meaning –  Dear Lord, I have already drowned in the material ocean. Also I am lowly and sinful. You are capable of delivering the wretched and the miserable. Please take mercy and save me ! I surrender unto your lotus feet !  11.

“jagatām trānakartāsi bhartā dātāsi sampadām,

trānam kurusva bho nātha ! dāsyam dehi shachi-sutah” 12.

Meaning –  You are the Savior of the universe ! You are the Supreme Caretaker ! You have the power to give all sorts of wealth ! You alone sustain this world ! O my dear Shachinandan Gourahari ! Please deliver me  by accepting me as your slave.”  12.

“sarveshām-avatārānām purānairyat shrutam phalam,

tasmānme nishkritirnāsti ataste sharanam gatah” .13.

Meaning –  I have heard from the Purānas the effects that all the avatāras had on this world. However,  I am too sinful to be delivered by them. Hence my Lord, I surrender unto you. 13.

“vichitra madhurākshara shruti-manogya geete mudā,

swa-bhakta-gana-mandali rachita madhyagāmi prabhuh.

manohara manoharo natati gourachandra swayam,

jagat-traya vibhushane paramadhāma neelāchale.” 14.

Meaning – Neelāchal is the ornament of the three worlds, and it is the Supreme Abode, because Sri Shachinandan Gourahari is dancing mesmerizingly with his devotees in this blessed place. He is holding everyone spellbound with his nectarine supremely attractive sankirtan.

“vilokya purushottamam kanaka goura deho hari-

rmudā hridaya-pankaje jalada-kānti ālingitum,

papāta dharanitale sakala-bhāva sam-murchhitah

kadā-chidapi nengate paramadhāri samspandam.” 15.

Meaning –  Beholding the cloud-complexioned Sri Sri Jaganāthadev, the golden-splendored Shachinandan Gourahari rushed to ensconce him in his lotus like heart. Overcome with bhāv, he fell on the earth unconscious. He became absolutely immobile and his eyes were without any flicker.

“gourasya nayane dhārā sagadgada vacho mukhe,

pulakānkita sarvāngo bhāve luthati bhutale”. 16.

Meaning –  Sri Sri Gourachandra’s eyes are shedding Prem-tears, his holy lips are uttering Prem-words in a choked voice, and goose-bumps are covering  his body. He is rolling on the earth in blissful Prem. 16.
