USED vs. LOVED

While a man was polishing his new car,
his 4 yr old son picked up a stone
and scratched lines on the side of the car.
In anger, the man took the child’s hand
and hit it many times not realizing
he was using a wrench.

At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers
due to multiple fractures.

When the child saw his father…..
with painful eyes he asked, ‘Dad when will my fingers grow back?’
The man was so hurt and speechless;
he went back to his car and kicked it a lot of times.

Devastated by his own actions….. .
sitting in front of that car he looked at the scratches;
the child had written ‘LOVE YOU DAD’.

Anger and Love have no limits;
choose the latter to have a beautiful, lovely
life & remember this:
Things are to be used and people are to be loved.
The problem in today’s world is
that people are used while things are loved.

Let’s try always to keep this thought in mind:
Things are to be used,
People are to be loved.

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character;
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

I’m glad a sweet person forwarded this to me as a reminder…
I hope you have a good day no matter what problems you may face
it’s the only day you’ll have before it’s over.

  1. That last line got me, “Its the only day you’ll have before its over”….? Anyway, apropos this very insightful post, I wanted to add that not only people are to be loved over objects, but people are to be loved over dogs and cats and such pets. Here in the West the extent of peoples’ attachment to their dogs over other fellow human beings is, in a word, disgusting. I saw that in India this trend is catching on, and fast too. Its alright to be compassionate towards animals. But that is not what pet lovers in the West are about. Their relation to dogs is clearly unhealthy and excessive, especially in contrast to their oblivion of the mistreatment of other animals such as cows and chickens raised for so called food. Why the whole climate of the planet is in geopardy because of such absurd way of life. I call it way of death… People can be really crazy…
  2. Radhe Radhe Sunita ! YOu are absolutely right ! YOu know the funniest yet most inspiring sight i have seen till date? Peep down from my window each morning – at 5 AM sharp – and wat do u c? A gent, who is all washed and bathed and groomed – with his ironed shirt tucked neatly in – belted creaseless trousers – shining shoes…….with a dog-chain in his hands, looking worshipingly at his dog while he does his “thing”. i call this sight “inspiring” bcoz it inspires me to wake up and groom myself for Mangal arati each day. If he can do it for his dog, then why can i not do it for Krishna? But the sight is damn hilarious :)))) And you should see him in monsoon !! He ACTUALLY drapes raincoats over the dog, while he gets wet in the drizzle. LOL !!!
