“Yugal-geet” contains 12 verses altogether. It gives us the relish of Bhagavân Sri Krishna’s day-to-day pastimes, love-sports and sweetness. Everyday the Gopis eagerly await the evening – each shlok drips with the miserable love-cry of the Gopis that pierce our hearts. My honorable father Prabhu Prânkishorji had written in the context of ‘songs in Srimad-Bhâgavatam’ – “How gorgeous Vanamaali is looking ! His face is tinted with the dust from the cattle-hoofs, His eyes are darting playfully with love and His makar-kundals are dancing in glee ! His friends are gazing at Him with pride. With an exultant face He is coming like a pompous and inebriated Elephant-king ! The moon seems to have risen on the horizon of Vraja ! This most attractive vision is filling the Brijwâsis with utmost bliss. The sight of Govinda is relieving both the residents as well as the cattle from the scorching heat of the day.” If we have extraordinary ‘bhaav-eyes’, we too can behold this scene and be blessed.
Srila Baabaaji Mahaaraj has the good fortune of relishing this ethereal divine beauty, only because he has been completely surrendered unto the lotus-feet of his Sri Gurudev. Therefore he is perpetually engrossed in blissful meditation. For the sâdhak-devotee, however, this bhaav-beauty of the transcendental world is extremely rare. We are grateful to Srila Baabaaji mahaaraaj for transforming this divine vision into words and giving us a rich insight into the sweet realm of ras. Indeed he is blest with immense talent!
Srila Ananta dâs Bâbâji Mahârâj is a God-send boon to those who are searching for the way to sâdhya1-sâdhan2, and are striving to reach the goal. He is an exceptional soul who is absorbed in bhâv, and has plucked the choicest blossoms from the bowers of Sri Guru-kripâ-kânan3. His name ‘Ananta’ is indeed worthy, since he has made the abhisârs4 to the leelâ-kunja5 of That Infinite-One delectable for innumerous devotees. He has so much bhajan-experience that he has preserved his extraordinary divine ras-relish in a gold pitcher. Now he ahs arranged this novel feast of ras and is generously distributing this precious wealth – this supreme amritam that annihilates all sufferings of the surrendered souls. In deed he is the worthy recipient of the title ‘magnanimous’. We pray that he may decorate our mothertongue Bengali with his gem-like compositions and serve Vaishnav-literature for many more years to come. This is our heartfelt prayer at the lotus feet of Sri Sri Râdhâ-Govinda.
