The Divine Lover-boy

 

“lokān samastān kalidurga vāridher-

nāmnā samuttārya swatah samarpitam.

sri gourachandrair hari vaishvanām

nāmnashcha tattvam kathitam jane jane.” 46.

Meaning –   We, the Klaiyug-afflicted beings, are sunk in the depths of terrific material ocean and are caught in the throes of a dangerous vortex. Sri Gourachandra has voluntarily gifted the nectarine Harinām to us  and delivered us from this miserable state. He has explained the glory of the Holy Name and Vaishnav-qualities very nicely to each of us. 46.

 

“yāvanta vaishnavāloke paritrānasya hetave,

ratanti prabhunādishtā deshe deshe grihe grihe”. 47.

Meaning –  By the order of Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahāprabhu, his surrendered devotees are wandering from place to place, house to house, preaching the nectarine  Harinām. In this manner they are delivering people suffering in Kaliyug. 47.

 

“jagat-bandhor-jagat-kartā jagatām trāna hetave,

yatra tatra harehsevā kirtane sthāpite sukhe.” 48.

Meaning –  Sri Gourachandra is the Friend and Master of the world. He has established the sevā of Sri Hari and started the Sankirtan yagnya in many palces. 48.

 

“gourāngah prema-murtir-jagati yad-avadhiprema-dānam karoti,

pāpi tāpi surāpi nikhila-jana-dhana-sthāpya-hāri kritaghnah.

sarvān dharmān swakiyān vishamiva vishayam samprityajya krishnam,

gāyantyuchchaihpramattāstadavadhi vikalāh premasindhou vimagnāh. 49.

Meaning –  Ever since Sri Gourānga Mahāprabhu, Who is Prem Personified, has been dispensing Prem, the sinful, miserable, alcoholics, ungrateful and thieves – all have discarded their evil deeds and material desires. Now they have taken to singing the holy Name loudly; they are absorbed in blissful Prem and are immersed in the ocean of joy. 49.

 

“yeshām kasmin kaliyugenābhunnistāro bahu-janmani,

kaloute te sukhe magnā nāma-gāna prasādatah” . 50.

Meaning –  All those who were extremely sinful, and they had no chance of being saved in countless lifetimes in any of the yugas – now, due to the Harinām-sankirtan-prasādam distributed by Gourachandra – they are immersed in the Ocean of Joy. 50.

 

“harernāmnā prasādena nistaret pātakee janah,

upadeshtā swayam krishna-chaitanyo jagadeeshwarah.” 51.

Meaning –  Sri Gourachandra has showered  Harinām-sankirtan-prasād on us. By the mercy of the Sankirtan Movement even the most sinful beings have been delivered. Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahāprabhu Who is the Controller of all beings, and the controller of all the universes, is Himself their Instructor. 51.

 

“akhila bhuvana-bandhur-nāmā-dātā kripāluh,

kashita kanaka-varnahsarva-mādhurya-poornah,

ati sumadhura-hāsah snigdha-drik prema-bhāsah,

sfuratuh hridaya-madhye goura-chandra natendra.” 52.

Meaning –  Sri Gourachandra is the friend of all. He is the most munificent of all because he has gifted the Holy Name. His brilliant golden mesmerizing form is marvelous. Every part of His body oozes sweetness. The smile on His handsome face is extremely sweet. The look in His lotus-eyes is extremely serene, and His speech is sweet and loving. “ati madhura charitrah Krishna-nāmaika mantro,

bhuvana-vidita sarva-prema-dātā nitāntah.

vipula pulaka-dhāri chittahari janānām

sfuratu hridayamdhye gourachandro natendrah”. 53.

Meaning –  Sri Gourachandra’s nature is extremely sweet ! Krishna-Nām is His only Mahāmantra. The entire universe knows that He is the only dispenser of Prem. His beautiful body is full of goose bumps. He is all-captivating. May That Divine Lover-boy, the Chief of Dancers reveal Himself in my heart ! 53

 

“sakal nigama-sārah purna purnāvatārah,

kali kalusha vināshah prema-bhakti-prakāshah.

priya sahachara-sange ranga-bhangyā vilāsi,

sfuratu hridaya-madhye gourachandro natendrah.” 54.

Meaning –  Sri Goruachandra is the essence of all Vedic scriptures. He is Absolute and Absolute Incarnate. He alone can destroy all sins of the Kaliyug-afflicted beings and give them Prem. “jagadatula manogya nātya-leelābhivigyah,

kalita madhura veshai murchhitā-shesha deshah,

prabala guna gabhira shuddha-swatva swabhāva,

sfuratu hridaya madhye Gourachandra natendrah”. 55.

Meaning –  In all universe Sri Gourachandra is the most incomparable and fascinating Person. He is second to none and the highest expert in performing pastimes. His sweet serene resplendent marvelous attire holds Countless people from all over the world spellbound. May That Divine Lover-boy, the Chief of Dancers reveal Himself in my heart ! 55.

 

“niravadhi galadashruh swedayuktah sakampah,

pulakavalita dehah sarvalāvanya-gehah.

manasija shata-chitta-kshobhakāri yashaswi,

sfuratu hridaya-madhye Gourachandra natendrah. “ 56.

Meaning –  Sri Goruachandra’s ākarna[1] eyes are shedding torrential Prem-tears, His extremely beautiful lāvanyamay[2] form is full of perspiration, and it  is quivering in Prem-bliss. His incomparable beauty is agitating hundreds of successful Kāmdevas and making their hearts restless. May That Divine Lover-boy, the Chief of Dancers reveal Himself in my heart ! 56.

 

“shaman damana nāma Krishna-nāma pradāna,

parama patita deena trāna kārunya-seemah.

vraja-vipina-rahasya prolla-sachchāru gātrah,

sfuratu hridaya-madhye gourachandra natendrah.” 57.

Meaning –  Sri Gourachandra is the Destroyer of Time, and He is indiscriminately dispensing Prem to all the Kaliyug-afflicted beings. He is Patita-pāvan, the deliverer of the wretched and the fallen. He is the Height of Munificence. His gorgeous graceful form is reminding the onlookers of the confidential pastimes of Vrindāban. This is turn is arousing Prem-ecstasy in their hearts. “sakala rasa-vidagdhah krishnām pramodah,

prabala guna-gabhirah prani-nistāra dheerah,

nirupama tanurupah dyetitānanga bhupah,

sfuratu hridaya-madhye gourachandro natendrah”. 58.

Meaning –  Sri Gourachandra is the crest-jewel in the assembly of the topmost Rasikas. He is the essence of all ras-expertise. He is forever intoxicated in Krishna-nām, his extremely vast excellences are deeper than the ocean – He is controlled and serious. He is always striving to deliver the fallen souls. His fascinating beauty is matchless. The reflection of His brilliant anga (form) falls on King Ananga[3] (Kāmadev) to make him look effulgent.  May That Divine Lover-boy, the  Chief of Dancers  reveal Himself in my heart ! 58.

“vimala kamala-vaktrah pakva-bimba-adhar-oshthas-

tila-kusuma sunāsah kambu-kantha sudeergha,

subalita bhuja-dando nābhi gambheera rupah,

sfuratu hridaya madhye gourachandro natendrah” . 59.

Meaning –  Sri Gourachandra’s flawless moon-like face is like a lotus in full bloom. His beautiful nose is like the sesame flower, His throat is like a conch-shell, His strong muscular arms are well-proportioned, and His navel is deep. May That Divine Lover-boy, the Chief of Dancers  reveal Himself in my heart ! 59.

 

“kashita-kanaka-kānteh sāra-lāvanya-murtih,

kali-kalusha-vihantā yasya-kirti-varishthā,

akhila bhuvana-loke prema-bhakti-pradātā,

sfuratu hridaya-madhye gourachandra natendrah”. 60.

Meaning –  Sri Gourachandra’s beautiful effulgence is like that of molten gold, his captivating form is condensed lāvanya, and His foremost identity is  –  “the One Who delivers everyone from the filth of Klaiyug”. [3] Here, Ananga or Kaamdev is being called a ‘King’; this indicates that we are not referring to the material Kaamadev, but to the transcendenatal Kaamadev, viz. Pradyumna. Even this transcendental Kaamadev is a mere shadow of Gourachandra.
