  1. Radhe Radhe! Good character ensures one achieves the goal of life the way it should be! Without true sadāchār no religion is taking to truth in proper way! One may reach God but He’ll reciprocate the way the devotee behaves…
  2. Radhe Radhe !! We should definitely watch our thoughts – for example – when Srila Jiva Goswami warns us against being kutil, or kapat, how do i know i fall in this category? i should definitely do some retreat. For this the vipassana meditation is extremely useful. In thsi process, willy-nilly our sub-consciousness throws up all the deep dug-in reserved data on its own !! And then what we do with it, is in our hands.
  3. I’m a little skeptical about this, especially considering that on this particular entry; http://kunjeshwari.com/sweetblog/devotee-contribution/if-religion-be-the-opium-of-the-masses-india-has-the-inside-dope/ … it was written, “Jayesh bhai has contributed this messsage to make every Indian and non-Indian know …………………., can treat ourr culture as stupid (not realizing that THEY are the ones without dharma-sanskar)” So two points; 1. people who “take religion” from India, and 2. people not from India not having “dharma” Are we to think that only India has religion/dharma or that the religion/dharma of India is the only one that matters? But yet this blog says “your religion doesn’t matter”. So I’m confused.
  4. Radhe Radhe dear consistency !! Actually this is a point i could and hope to elaborate by and by. It is just that i lack the time. So i am making it very brief. To put in a nutshell, India is a country which is the cradle of Dharma. Sanantan Dharma is the mother of all Dharmas. Dharma comes from the root “dhru” which means “to hold”. To hold what? the person (body, mind and soul), the family, the society, the country, the world, the universe – the living and the non-living – together. To maintain the perfect balance between evrything and everybody. This is the Indian culture, Vedic culture. Whosoever – due to whatever reason – this may be religious or not – moves away from this samskar, is non-Indian, non-vedic. And whosoever embraces this samskar, is very much Bharatiya. So all good norms have sprung out of the Vedic or Indian culture, and all that we see bad – even inside sanatan Dharma, have come from external sources (eg. the bondage of women, is inherently Islamic), and is not a part of Vedic culture. These norms have contaminated our Dharma and definitely need to be abolished. They are non-Indian and non-Vedic. Whenever a group of people moved away from the Indian culture, they got adifferent name. Also we can see that they wanted to become separated from India – formation of Pakistan, Bangladesh, and now the terrorisms in Nagaland, Assam, Punjab, Kashmir. Whenever the majority of the poeple of any part of India moved away from Vedic culture, the frist thing they demanded is – a separate country. i am afraid, as most non-sanatan Dharmis would not like to believe – Bharat and Sanatan Dharma are synonymous. Around 1947, The “Indian subcontinent”got divided into Pakistan, Bhutan, bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Once they were all integral parts of India. They got separated because they failed to adhere to Sanantan Dharma. Today, India is that portion in which Sanatan dharma prevails and is practiced freely. “Your religion does not matter”because what you profess is already a part of Sanatan Dharma – thsi si the point of view of Sanantan Dharmis. Reason why the Dalai Lama is still in India. India is the only country where the Jews were accepted peacefully since the very beginnin gof their departure from their homeland. India is the only country that iintegrated the Zoroastrians who were forced to flee from their homes. This is only due to the lofty culture of the Sanatan Dharmis or Indians. India is the only nation in the world that has never once invaded any foreign country. When India lives and thrives, Sanatan Dharma too shall live and thrive. If Indian economy fails, if Indian culture degenerates, some other country and their culture takes over India, then Sanatan Dharma too will perish. We must know this for sure. as a result, if we want to freely preach and practice Krishna-consciousness in our dear Braja Dham. For this we need to save India, her integrity, and her culture from evil forces within India and from outside. So definitely we need to put the interest of India first. If we are Krishna-Conscious, then we should definitely love, respect, honour, worship the very soil of India – every speck of this earth is fragrant with the foot-dust of exalted saints – all spiritual leaders of the stature of the Sumery mountain, such as sant Tukaram, sant Ramdas, sant Gyaneshwar, Meerabai, Andal, Thyagaraja, Namdev, Bilvamangal, Jaydev, and millions and million of others. Tiny Shrikhand alone has over forty self-realised Goudiya saints. What to speak of villages such as Mangalvedha, Dehu and Paithan? Which other country and culture can boast of the likes of Queen Padmini , Meera and Rupamati ? Of course there are a few attempts by the women of other countries, but they cannot come within a mile of the greatness, courage and spirituality of these Indian women. We have all along been tolerant, nay, acceptant. However today, we need to change our stance, since external agencies are very much determined to undermine India and her culture by destroying Sanatan Dharma. They are taking undue advantage of our generosity, magnanimity, and tolerance. This is due to the lack-a-daisycal attitude of the Sanatan Dharmis themselves. We have to purge out the evils that have contaminated the Dharma, and secondly save Dharma from the external attacks.
  5. Radhe Radhe dear consistency !! i also want to add quickly that there is achintya bhed-abhed tattva working here also – if u get inside the prem -part of it, you will not find any inconsistency. Just as are we Brahma-Madhvas? Of course we are, since our Guru lineage states so. Are we Brahma-Madhvas? Of ocurse not !! They believe in Narayan-worship and we don’t even look at anyone else other than that Suprem Thief !! They consider the Pandavas to be the best devotees, second are the Queens of Dwaraka, and they very grudgingly concede the third position to the Gopis (calling them adulteresses). But if you look with premanjana-chhurita eyes, you’ll know how differently things stand. So Goursundar has denounced the Madhva-sampraday in CC – ï see many flaws in YOUR sampraday”. Yet, are we Brahma-Madhvas ? Of course we are, but then we arent, but we are…………
  6. Thankyou Madhu Didi, I appreciate your taking your time to write all that. However, regardless of India’s history – the good and bad of it – what I was alluding to was the attitude which I qouted in my previous comment, that “there is no dharma outside of India. Only Indians have dharma samskar”. I disagree with that 100%. There is dharma everywhere. Every culture, every land, has it’s dharmas, it’s spiritual paths. I may add that in my culture, at least in the family that I was raised, honesty was seen as an absolute virtue. Only when I lived in India did I have to learn to lie as a survival technique. If I were to tell only the truth the entire time I lived in India, I may not be alive to type this today. LOL. I have seen this attitude amongst several Indians, some Vaishnavas included, that only they have dharma, all non-Indians are un-dharmic or un-cultured, and that is absolute bukwus! India as a nation has not YET invaded any other nation, but India has been a nation only since the 1940’s. Before that, and before the Brits came, there was no “India” so to speak. The area currently known as “South Asia” in general, and “India” in particular, was permeated by seperate small kingdoms that were FIGHTING with each other. Yes, invading each other. I mean, one read through even the Bhagavat Purana and you get a whole slew of kingdoms at war with one another. As far as Islam bringing “oppression of women” to India, yes, it may have excaberated the problem. But after reading Ramayana, Mahabharat, and the Bhagavat Purana (all holy books that I love by the way), I did not walk away thinking that women held a very high position in “Bharatiya Sanskriti”. Quite the contrary. I am very happy that I took birth during a time and in a country where the birth of a female child is celebrated and I was never once told that I have to do something (or not do something), simply because I’m female. In fact, one of the things that the Prophet Muhammed spoke against was gyno-infanticide, the killing of the female infant, which is rampant in India due to India’s preference for sons, which in turn has created the issue of dowry and dowry deaths. Would you believe that even in the UK and Cananda, Indians are requesting to know the gender of the fetus in the womb so that they can abort her if she’s a girl???? Even when they come to the West, Indians cannot give up their lingam-puja, worship of the male. 😎 Now, I’m not saying that killing baby girls is a “vedic” or “sanatan dharma” or “hindu” thing. We know it’s not. But if we look at the ROOTS of why this is happening, you can find “son preference” peppered throughout even the shastras that Vaishnavas read. If we look at it objectively, there is indeed a male bias, however subtle, throughout all of it. But since I am feeling 100% safer, 100% more respected as a woman, and 100% freer to move about where I am located now, should I assume that Sanatan Dharma has reached it’s pinnacle in the United States? I just don’t accept that all is good = Sanatan Dharma (India’s origin), and all that is bad = No Sanatan Dharma (anything originating outside of India). My experience around the world with various cultures tells me this isn’t so. Radhe! Radhe!
  7. Radhe Radhe!
There is dharma everywhere. Every culture, every land, has it’s dharmas, it’s spiritual paths.
Yeah, but oldest is Vedic religion. I believe some religions originated on observing this Vedic religion & some on their own… With the effect of maya, all had both selfless & selfish followers…
Before that, and before the Brits came, there was no “India” so to speak.
The 16 Mahajanpadas were united once when Dharmarāj Yudhiṣṭhir was the king in Dvāpar yuga! The second time they were united in Ashoka’s rule which too was a rule of peace & justice! Later only Mughal & British invaders could unify India to that extent. The name “Hindu” was given by Muslim invaders (before that it was vedic dharma) & name “India” was given by Britishers (before that it was Bhāratvarsh).
But after reading Ramayana, Mahabharat, and the Bhagavat Purana (all holy books that I love by the way), I did not walk away thinking that women held a very high position in “Bharatiya Sanskriti”. Quite the contrary
But not so low either! Hadn’t that been the case, there wudn’t be any svayaṁvars for the marriage of princesses where they’re given free chance to select their husband & this is coming from Tretā-yuga. The freedom given to Subhadrā to run away with Arjun, regardless of her elder brother’s (Balarām’s) promise to have Duryodhan as her husband— is that any less? Yeah, there were cases like Draupadi-vastra-haraṇa (which was due to her past karmas—not fasting in Purushottama month despite knowing about it) & vain attempt to propose Shiśhupāl for Rukmini by her brother but they are clearly shown (& seen very well now) in dark light in the scriptures.
  8. Radhe Radhe! As per the definitions given by Dalai Lama about the “best religion”—”the one that gets you closest to god” we can research into other mountainous philosophies across the world & Mahaprabhu’s philosophy too & see which gets us the closest—nothing, no meditation, sacrifice or practice can delve any consciousness deeper than rasik-prem-sevā into the Absolute. The other point: “the one that makes you a better person” elaborated by “Whatever makes you more compassionate, more sensible, more detached, more loving, more humanitarian, more responsible, more ethical.” We all know these daivīya qualities naturally come inside a loving devotee…with loving devotional service to Sri Radha Krishna as the heart is purified by Their seva. But I agree, while there are no such mental practices to cultivate these good qualities as in Vipassana, there is good motivation to develop them up in scriptures. Better than artificially trying to “practice” these, Das Gosvami says, sadā tvam rādhā giridhar pad prem-vilasatsudh, āmbhodau snātvā tvām api nitarām māṁ cha sukhaya. I don’t know the result of practicing to cultivate good qualities, but when Krishna purifies any anartha, then it is FOREVER—absolute purification! When prem manifests inside a devotee, there’s no question of Maya touching him/her from anywhere.
  9. Radhe Radhe !! i agree with every single word in both the comments by V’jeet. Extremely well–presented and scientific. We find united India even in the time of Chandragupta Maurya. These Kings – chandragupta, Ashik, Vikramaditya tried to unite India, whereas the Mughals and the British tried to annexe various states simply to further thier selfish interests. Also, Sanatan Dharma hails Kunti, Mandodari, Ahalya, Tara and Draupadi as the ‘Pancha-satis’. Here we have Gargi who challenged the greatest rishi of that time Yajnavalkya infront of dignitaries in the court of King Janak. We have as our ideal Mother Sita who fearlessly wistood the advances of Ravan, whom even the devatas feared. By the sheer shakti of her chastity. She always held a durva grass between herself and Ravan to stop defilement. For every Delilah produced by the west, we have a Sita to feel proud of. We have Savitri and Lopamudra who gave up everything to marry the man of their choice. Where in the culture of any other country would you find a woman who brought back her husband from the realms of Death? we have more than one. PL read the fact of Behula-Lakhinder. As for a woman being safe in the west ? Whom are you kidding, Toongi darling ? Read this. Not that it doesnt happen here, but it is much much less. Here we are not looked upon as sex-objects. Even if htis happens – yes, it surely happens – but even that is due to what guys see on western media and read in dirty western books. In short dirt has been incorporated by west. Once H.H. Radhanath Maharaj (American by birth), said – “What the Mughals couldn’t do to India in 500 years, and the British couldn’t do to India in 200 years – MTV achieved in 2 years – destroy India’s moral fabric. ” Srila PRabhupada has spoken enough on this subject. Now quoting your Gurudev Srila Narayan Maharaj on how he feels about Indian women vs western women – Indian wives are always very chaste. They can give their lives for their husbands. Their husbands may give them up or divorce them, but these women will never give up their husbands. Rama left Sita, but Sita never left Rama. This is Indian Vedic culture, and we should try to follow this because Parama-pujyapada Srila Swami Maharaja wanted it. Both husband and wife should help each other. You should never think, “I will give up my husband.” First follow Varnasrama-dharma, and then bhakti will come. When you are matured, then you can choose to either give it up or not give it up; no harm. But now you should try to follow Varnasrama-dharma. Some of the devotees were not following, and Srila Swami Maharaja was worried. Males and females should both be like this – very chaste. You can give up your life, no harm, because your soul will never die. However, if given to anyone, be chaste like this. Otherwise you can also give up Lord Krsna . So practice here. Take a vow that, “In my life I will never divorce; I will never give up my husband (or wife).” Then you will be chaste and you will never give up Krsna. Nowadays it is very easy to give up Gurudeva and to take a new one – like western women. In a second, for nothing, they can change their husbands. Although it may be a problem for their children, they are accustomed to act in that way. We should try to change this habit. So where is Dharma ? In India, or west ? And now Toongi, don’t bicker any more – otherwise i won’t hv time to feed you with the next part of the book on Bishnupriya – which is really juicy ! And you’ll be the first one drooling over it.
  10. Didi I’m not bickering here. I’m just pointing out, that if anyone anywhere wants to say “our dharma is awesome and if anything un-awesome is seen in it, it must be the result of outside influence” – a more realisitic approach might be to look within the dharma itself for principles or examples which may have given rise to later un-awesomeness. Since you mention Draupadi – her marriage to Pancha Pandava could be seen as troubling since it was concluded (by Kunti? can’t remember) that because of the vow between the brothers that they would “share” whatever “goods” they came across, she would have to marry all 5 and be “shared” amongst them. Of course WE know this as lila, and everything worked out well in the end, HOWEVER, from an ethical and human rights point of view – it’s not a good look, as they say, and reflects the “status” of women in that area of the world at the time. There are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many examples like that in Shashtra. I’ve tallied them 😎 . That’s why I continue to say – I’m glad I took birth where I did, when I did. As for what my Guruji said, yes, if a marriage is healthy, it is good for couples to stay together. If it is UN-healthy, it is good for them to work to make it healthy. If it is ABUSIVE and/or disruptive for spiritual life – I SUPPORT DIVORCE. As far as your question: “So where is Dharma ? In India, or west ?” There’s a little bit of dharma in both. I’m in the West right now for past 5 years because it’s dharmic qualities are more hospitable to me as a woman. But granted, if I was an Indian’s Mama’s boy, I’d probably never wanna leave India. 😆 Alright…. now onto the rasik katha. (But if you are going to post blogs about Bharat Mahan, I’ll be back with more socio-cultural commentary, be warned! 😎 ) Radhe! Radhe!
  11. it’s not a good look, as they say, and reflects the “status” of women in that area of the world at the time.
Draupadi was won by Pandava Arjun in svayaṁvar organized by Drupad & later she was happy (& proud) to have five mahā-purushas as her husbands. All were sons of demigods with divine qualities! And this was the ONLY case in which she was wife of the five. This in NO WAY reflects the status of general women in India at that time. Moreover, Draupadi’s status was that of a queen & a respected kula-vadhu ALWAYS! Even after vastra-haraṇa! In fact, Kunti told her to keep her head high always! For the dishonor never occurred of herself, but of Hastinapur, it’s king (Dhritrashtra), queen (Gandhari) & most importantly the one who did… The greatness of a country doesn’t need to be posted in this blog to be shown! Sun shines by itself!
  12. Oh yeah…. don’t even get me started on her being gambled away like a possession or piece of property by her husbands and then they didn’t even come to her rescue during vastra-haran! I forgot all about that – thanks for reminding me 😎 We know this was all to facilitate the lila of That Dark One wrapping his sakhi Draupadi’s body in the gopi’s vastra that was haraned by him earlier in Braj………………… HOWEVER….. how it all went down is unsettling to someone who values human rights, to say the least. Most of the events from Mahabharat that have to deal with women can only be reconciled via the concept of “lila”. From the point of view of ordinary human ethics, they are sketchy at best. Don’t even get me started on this concept of “sati”….. Radhe! Radhe!
  13. Radhe Radhe! Oh, the problem was they were Kshatriyas who, by dhārmic-maryādā, can’t refuse the challenge of war & gambling. And this fact was misused by the person from Gandhara (modern Afghanistan)—Shakuni, to have Duryodhan avenge against Pāndavas (for the laugh from Draupadi for the foolishness he did at Maya-mahal in Indraprastha)…When Yudhishthir-ji lost everything including himself, the king Dhritrashtra was requested many times to close the game by his ministers, but becoz of affection for that wicked Duryodhan he didn’t. And when Yudhisthir-ji asked “What I now have to put on stake?”, then Duryodhan & Karna hypnotically forced him: “mṛig-naini Draupadi” (watch this BR Chopra’s Hindi rendition to see how it went). Shakuni’s dices too weren’t just “perfected for winning” but also had hypnotic effect on the opposite player. Vidur-ji got up & even requested the king to forsake Duryodhan on such a wicked act, but he didn’t…so Yudhishthir had no choice but to continue the stakes… And in dāsatva, no Pāndava brother had any right to do anything other than will of their then master (Duryodhan). Pāndavas pledged many things & later fulfilled the pledges too… All this was recognized as Yudhishthir’s fault and the later he accepted the exile as its penance. This was destined & led to destruction of Kauravas. Similarly, Sita-harana led to destruction of virtually invincible Ravana. Over & above, all these has been clearly shown in dark light which is to demonstrate what shouldn’t be done. Showing that “adharma leads to destruction” is a part of dhārmic teachings! 😀 Read about the 28 primary hells to see how many of them are related to lust & sins done towards women.
how it all went down is unsettling to someone who values human rights, to say the least.
This never happened to women in general at that time. In fact, after this lila, Virat-King promised never to put his wife on gambling stakes. There have been, are & will remain good & bad things everywhere but Dharma defines the way they’re given justice. Moreover, whether Dharma remains anywhere or not, laws of Nature do have infallible justice…Dharma, after all, is again on material level (I don’t know from where the term “Sanatan dharma” came—I know it as “Vedic religion” which was universal, at that time) & hence isn’t perfect. Had it been perfect, there wudn’t have been any need for any incarnations. But
  14. Radhe Radhe !! “sau chuhe khaakar billi haj ko chali”. An US citizen talking human rights !!! Wah ! WAH ! They have misconceptions about other nations because they are only 200 years old. They grabbed the land belonging to the Red Indians, committed mass genocide and mass scale violence. They committed the most shocking destruction in human history ever – the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Vietnam war, destruction of Iraq, terrorism in Kashmir……….the worst bully and terrorist in the world. No culture of their own anyway. These are the people who practiced burning at the stake, labeling anybody they didn’t like as ‘heretics’ and burning them – US is famous for its violence against women. And don’t get me talking about the “dot-busters” club………… These have risen out of the inherent bad samskar of the people of these regions. Vaishnavi said – I am very happy that I took birth during a time and in a country where the birth of a female child is celebrated and I was never once told that I have to do something (or not do something), simply because I’m female. i know an INDIAN woman whose parents opted for a single child – a GIRL child – celebrated her birth, her father gifted her a gold chain with name imprinted in gold pendant – dressed her like a bride (as is the custom in our religion) after 6 months during ‘first anna-prasadam’, sent her to the finest missionary school, she graduated from the prestigious Sophia College , she studied the royal combination of Microbio-Biochemistry, got the Creative Excellence Award from the Department of Education, the Higest HIndi award from the Governor of Mahrashtra, First prize in Arts from the Education Minister Of India, The First Prize in GK Quiz and First Runner-up in Indian HIstory Quiz in All-Bombay Intercollegiate Championship. Her parents got her admission in the Balgandharva Music University from where she passed 3 grade Exams, her parents entered her in Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan University, from where she got a HIgher Secondary certificate in Sanskrit, her parents entered her in All-India Camlin Painting Competition in which she ranked in the first ten. But amidst all this – she also got a Vedic samskar. Like Mother Devahuti, she seeks only quality in her husband – that he is Krishna-conscious. OHH, i could go and on…..but i really don’t like to talk so much about myself. 😎 ( here, please note – How only in India we refer to not only women, but also the rivers with feminine genders as “Mata”- the highest honor conferred on womanhood) – unthinkable by western men, and unacceptable to westerm women. Recently one of the best tributes was paid to Bharat Mata ( please note how we say ‘Mother’ India) – by the Chinese MInister, who said – “India invaded China, converted her entire people and spread Indian culture throughout our country without ever sending a single soldier across. ” i give you a loving call my friend, “Bow down to this holy earth at the feet of Bharat Mata, where saints reside in every speck of her foot dust – embrace her, and she will embrace you back, like she absorbed the huns, shakas, Mughals, Anglos, the Jews and the Zoroastrians, and made them her own. Imbibe her glorious samskar, and you will be happy. ” Dear Toongi, 🙂 what you desperately need is this – get married to an Indian Vaishnav – like my Shuk – 😀 – so u live happily ever after !!!! 😉
  15. Radhe Radhe – i just remembered how there was a storm when the first time a woman entered to study in the college in US – how she had to get special permission. It created so much trouble that a film was made on it, starring that guy who stars as “Superman” – very very old film. This never happened here. The poeple were proud of Pandita Ramabai. Also the women had to struggle real hard to get the right to vote. i remember Nehru said in his speech – “The women in India got democratic rights to vote when the women in England were still struggling for it. ” The prob is that after so many years of Leela-smaranam, i had forgotten all this. But thx Vaishnavi, for reminding me.
  16. “Dear Toongi, what you desperately need is this – get married to an Indian Vaishnav – like my Shuk – – so u live happily ever after !!!! ” 😛 You are assuming I’m heterosexual Didi. What about “gay rights”? 😎 Anyway, it is natural for humans to have attachment and affection for their homeland, so I don’t fault anyone for that. What is odd is that it appears I’m expected to be “patriotic” towards India, when I did not take birth there! I am not a Hindu Nationalist, RSS, Bajrang Dal, or Sri Durga Sene walli. However I did send a pair of chaddis to the Sri Rama Sene during that whole “PINK CHADDI CAMPAIGN” that went down last year starting in Bangalore, then sweeping India and going international, thanks to the internet. So I did do my own small part for the cause of womens’ liberation in India. Maybe I am a Bharatiya Nari and Indian Patriot afterall????? PS: maybe you need to make a separate section for all the non-rasik katha on this blog, calling it “Sweet Social Commentary” or whatever, because talks like this seem “rasabhas” mixed in with Gita Govinda and Bishnupriya Viraha. Radhe! Radhe!
  17. Ms Consistency is consistent in western culture. Rajiv Malhotra talks about U-turns made by many such western people who first show interest in bharatiya samskriti, but later turn the opposite way. – http://www.iisc.ernet.in/prasthu/pages/PP_data/uturn.pdf consistency is their hall mark. consistency in adharmikata. Though, it is true that dharmik behaviour is not confined to indians, it is not hereditory. Prahlada, son of Hiranyakashipu, Ravana, son of Vishravas, are examples of people who went opposite to their parents’ nature. There are probably as many dharmikally inclined people born in the west, as in india. Only, in india, some of them get the benefit of being guided by bharatiya samskriti and parampara that helps them realize their true potential as brahma. Constistency would do well to understand that bharatiya samskriti cannot help her in any way. She better make her u-turn right now. Btw, the place a person is in, its dharmik histroy, also influences the person’s behaviour, to some extent. namaste
  18. “Ms Consistency is consistent in western culture. Rajiv Malhotra talks about U-turns made by many such western people who first show interest in bharatiya samskriti, but later turn the opposite way.” That statement does not apply to me since my interest is in Bhakti, not this or that “sanskriti”. To the extent that certain aspects of any “sanskriti” can facilitate bhakti, then it is beneficial to me, otherwise not.
  19. Those who do the U turns are also not interested in any samskriti, only in the personal benefit they seek to draw, even if they couch it in terms of ‘Bhakti’ or ‘research’. This article provides good example of such a ‘Bhakta’- http://rajivmalhotra.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=33:the-insideroutsider-academic-game&catid=20:american-education-reform&Itemid=26 However, it is not being suggested here that Consistency is or is not another Caldwell in the making. pranam
  20. Radhe Radhe! Bhakti is above religion, dear Incognito! Bhakti is transcendental, religion is on material level. Despite being a born “Hindu”, if some of Buddhist practices support Krishna bhakti, then I’ll gladly go, learn & practice that part without a tinge of hesitation. This is a pure-bhakti-blog—the “religion stuff” was probably thrown in to weigh positive effects universalism on it…and it resulted in this long discussion about how it balances Indian vedic religion in particular.
  21. Pranams Madhumati didi, To Consistency I totally agree with Madhumati didi in all respects. personally admired Pandita Ramabai and great saintly women of India. Ms Consistency, you have touched on two points here “indian men” and “Rights”based on “progression”. So lets analyse the “Men” issue that your men are so civilized as opposed to the “uncivilized indian men”. Firstly, your country is based on Calvinist patriachial protestantism, so you know what that means?. That male dominated ethos led to genocide of endless tribes, conquering, colonising and enslaving people around the world. Your country which you claim is so great for women, formerly committed heavy genocide to the indiginous indios, with a few priviledge ones committed to live their lives in reservations, stipped from their identity, dispossed of their culture and all. Then your people did the same with the African American, enslaved, burnt to the stake for petty crimes, murdered and raped randomly, women beaten, while also stripped from their identity and inherited their slave masters’ names till today. Then in the 1950’s they got “freedom”, so what was that freedom or progression as you think again to live and be controlled by your laws. made by you the “Unchoosen ones”. Check “Tim Wise” video”. Let me remind you that your women were not free before the 195o’s and also even the British women fought for “women suffrages” in order to be free and to vote. Further more why talk about Indian women, have you not opened your eyes to the cry of the middle eastern women who are forced to wear hijabs, stoned to death and get their limbs chopped off and tortured, today. What about your endless paedophelia practicing priests in churches or rich men from the west who patronise poor countries just to sexploit innocent young children? You seem totally “DELUSIONAL”. Now lets take your style of “Progression” like “human rights”, gay rights etc etc. What is the progression of your country by the way. To me it seems from genocide to prison, from mass conquering and enslavement to “Laws”, made by the “Choosen ones”not for the undesirables in the world. Just like your propogander machines which blasted the world with western cowboy movies, with the underlying message “the goodies vs the baddies”and “remember the baddies were always the indios.. Now it moved to cops and robbers in the films, with the coloured people being the baddies so a shift as perceived by you as “progression… The present day progression is the consumerism enslavement where no one is free to make any individual choices but the law. Progression continues from little companies to cooperate affairs. Why, cooperate, because speulation and theft can thrive harmoniously without the big boys getting caught and have surpassed the law.. Again from “Free speech” to “political correctness”So the human race is already becomming MUTES and cannot think due to technological decvices forced upon them by LAWS. Again more progression in the future to monitor people’s movements like animals. Did you realise western societies are moving away from the notion of god, religion, old fashion values to the great progression in which the poor, useless or numbers will become the mute and mentally ill zoombies, while the desired rich will be allowed to live and be worshipped as Gods. So the real reason you are in India in the first place is to get away from all this and to be free not really to be a devotee because it seems you don’t even know what it means to be a devotee. By the way since your counsciousness is focussed on indian men so badly. I also think Madhumati has suggested the most appropriate thing for you. is to get married to one. .A very nice G M achraya used to say to his disciples, try and develop nice qualites so as to progress in bhakti and not to become a “drain inspector” like yourself. Here is a good piece of advice you can take on board. Bhakti is not about drain inspection, its about being honest, minding your own business, realising that happiness is within you and not in the environment. Most of all developing good qualities to uplift your counsciousness so you can stay focussed in your sadhana. Good luck
