So what to do? Well, today the temp did drop a bit, and out came the colorful woolies. They look sooooo cute, don't they ? All the peacock feathers are from Nathdwaar, while Radharani's brooch, that you see at her waist, is a gift from Bhaisaab.

    • Radhashtami 2009 was toooo much fun-filled. We had a lot of games, and oodles of prizes. Although i was and am suffering from a chronic ailment, ishwari was adamant and arranged teh birthday bash in our mandir. And WHAT a blast we had ! With a "R Radhashtami 2009 was toooo much fun-filled. We had a lot of games, and oodles of prizes. Although i was and am suffering from a chronic ailment, ishwari was adamant and arranged the birthday bash in our mandir. And WHAT a blast we had ! With a "Radha-naam" crossword and a "Radharani Quiz" thrown in - it was the ideal bash. We got gifts for every correct answer, and the devotees were So happy ! :) Amrit am floated everywhere. We partook ample of the three Amritams - Namamritam, Kathamritam and Adharamritam. . Namamritam comprised of Shuk-shari dwandwa (the all-time fav), and countless Radha-naams, We screamt "Vrindabaneshwari" "Brajeshwari" "Kundeshwari" " Kunjeshwari" and " Radhe Radhe " after every name ...and we did this after every second, and after every statement :)))) For Kathamritam, we had a discussion on Mohan-akhya Mahabhav, in which we went into the nitty-gritties of Chitrajalpa. The premis went all ecstatic. And Adharamritam comprised of 'bhuni-khichuri" (a hybrid of biryani and khichdi), paramaanna, .papad, nimkis, sandesh, , shon-papri, fruits, mixed farsan, tambul and paneer-kheer. Oh, and chocolate-cake, of course !!! Ishwari's charan-darshan was the grande finale. :))))))) Jay Jay Sri Raadheee !!!     • "mor bole, chakor bole, radharani ke jhoole pe mor bole......." - YES ! all the transcendental birds and animals of Braj gather around Ishwari when She swings - the peacock, the cuckoos, the chakor ..the list is endless. In fact, the peacocks are the most audacious of the lot They even climb on Her lap and start singing. BUt of course, they are not so audacious as That One ! You won't beieve HIs impudence !! He actually plays the swing faster and faster till the breeze is so strong that swaminijiu's dupatta flies away. Then ....Oh no !! He grabs the opportunity and covers Her bosom with His hands , claiming all the while that He is doing it only to protect Her. anyway, leaving aside That King of Frauds - Jhoolan happens to be one of my favs. This year Neelu got a brand new jhula (swing) from Goverdhan. He has given away His jhula-from-Naathdwar to His Friend "Kaanu" Who lives in the next village. Kaanu is the Worshiped Deity of my sakhi. i actually got the swing with the intention of swinging Radha-Gobindaji on it But every time we put Them on the swing, it would tilt backwards. Ultimately the jhula threw Their Lordships out on to the floor. Then i threw my hands up - said - "enough is enuff" and givng Neelu a stern glare, i put Him on the swing. And the swing has been steady ever since. How naughty !! Tiny Neelu occupying the entire jhula !! :( and :)

    • Guru-Purnima2009 was celebrated in Bombay, albeit on a small scale, however the frvour was no less than what it was in Kolkata. We had ecstatic kirtan. We sang all the Gurudev-kirtans we knew and lots of Mahamantra. The day savored a photo-finish ending when the printer personally came to deliver Baba's newest release "Topmost achievable Goal" :) It is a grand book, and contains A-Z of Bhakti.

    • Chandan Yatra of our Radha Gobindaji! Candana yatra starts on the third lunar day of the waxing moon of Vaisakha month, and continues for twenty days. Smearing the body of the Lord with ointments is an act of devotion, and the best of ointments is sandalwood paste. Since the month of Vaisakha is very hot in India, the cooling effect of the sandalwood is very pleasing to the body of the Lord. Sandalwood paste is applied all over the body of leaving only his two eyes visible. Especially in Puri, the utsava murtis (functional Deities - Vijay utsav) are taken on procession and are placed in a boat in the temple pond. To commemorate this festival, Lord Caitanya also carried out water sports with his devotees.
