Gour Amrit Bindu

After convincing the Kazi in Simantadwip to surrender to Harinaam, Prabhu and the kazi assured that no one would hereafter, ever again disturb Mahaprabhu’s Harinaam Sankirtan. In that Harinaam, billions and billions of Nabadweep Vasis took part the entire night and by the influence of Yogamaya, the night expanded like the night of the Raslila of Braj pastimes.

Similarly, the Dham also expanded. Everywhere there was an uproar of ‘Haribol’ ‘Haribol’ all over. All the devotees were dancing and holding a mashal/light in their hand and simultaneously clapping too. No one could understand whether it was night or day.

On the way, Lord Gauranga became thirsty and stopped at the residence of Sridhar, a devotee who was living in a small hut. Outside the hut, he had hung a broken metal bowl in which he would eat and drink water. He had nothing else. Lord Gauranga picked up that bowl and drank water with it from his pot . When Sridhar saw this, he started crying. He fainted, seeing the Lord.

Gauranga thus showing His great love for him. Lord Gauranga thus set an example to all that, by drinking water from the home of Vaisnavas one will get Krsna bhakti. And that, one should not get carried away by the external appearance of the vessel. Upon seeing this, Sridhar kept saying, “You are ruining me Gaura Hari, please do not do this”, but Lord Gauranga did not stop.

When one has a desire to serve to Krsna, all the objects of this material world immediately becomes pure . This is another lesson that Mahaprabhu is teaching us through this incident. All the objects in the home of Vaishnavs are all ‘nirmal’.

Haribol ! Haribol !

  1. Radhe Radhe Is this same sridhar, who was a sudama in krishna pastime ?
  2. Radhe Radhe dada !! We are refering to Khola becha Shridhar. Shuklambar Brahmachari was Sudama in Dwapar leela. “The Lord was sitting here on this altar of Vishnu, absorbed in the sound of the Holy Name, when Shuklambar Brahmachari passed by on his begging rounds. Mahaprabhu lovingly put his hand on Shuklambar’s begging bag and took a handful of unwashed rice, calling him Sudama. Shuklambar Brahmachari made repeated humble comments and danced in the kirtan with the bag still on his shoulder. The Lord and his devotees felt the intensity of their emotions increase as they watched Shuklambar’s ecstatic transformations. This is one of the pastimes of the Lord in the house of Srivasa Pandit, after which he went through the town back to his own house.” (Bhakti-ratnakara 12.2754-8)
