A Vaishnav’s Prayer to Mother Saraswati (goddess of learning)

Jayatu jayatu jayatu debi

Hamsabâhini mâ go shweta boroni

Beenâ bâdini tumi bhagabati.

Brindâbone Shyâm leelâmrita bâdini

Bânshi rupe Shyâm kore âdhâr Binodini.

Gopi-mon mohini râi mono jwalani,

Brahma rupe mâ go tumi sura rupini.

Bidyâ dâyini mâ go gyân dâyini

Deho bidyâ, gyân, deho mâ bhakati

Saraswati keho dâke keho mâ bhârati

Minoti tobo pade deho prem bhakati.

“All glory all glory all glory to you, O goddess !

You, who ride a swan and dress in white,

And play on the veenâ.

All glory unto you !

In Vrindâban you are the flute that frolics on Shyam’s lips,

And sing His glory;

Thus enchant the Gopis and emblaze the heart of Râi.

You are the Supreme vibration, O mother, the Divine Sound.

Dear mother, you who are the dispenser of education

And the dispenser of knowledge!

Please give us the education and knowledge to gain bhakti.

Some call you Saraswati, while others call you Bhârati,

But we beg at your feet simply to give us prem and bhakti.”

  1. Radhe Radhe! Sweet! She came out of Krishna’s tongue…so She’s actually governs the dynamics of “one flute different messages”… Great isn’t it! 😀 Much better than (usually crashing) broadcast servers out there! 😆
  2. Radhe Radhe! I’ve first time seen the image with Her standing on a so-active swan…looks like a leela-murtih! 🙂
  3. Radhe Radhe. Yes Vijeet, the swan does seem to be VERY active indeed! And the mother’s outfit is a fashion statement 🙂 i m dying to copy it 🙂 i too like this poem.
  4. Radhe Radhe! OOOPS!!! The statue is truly either TOOO modern (whether Bombay type or or western)!!! She’s holding Guitar—not Veenâ do you see?
  5. The statue is ‘too modern’? Hum thas probably why I liked it so much, dam westerneness. “The mother’s outfit is a fashion statement i am dying to copy’, ha ha ha that was cute! 😆
  6. Hey Madhu Di! Do you know of any rasik connection between Shani Deva and Braj Lila?
  7. Radhe Radhe ! Vijeet said – “……..She’s holding Guitar—not Veenâ……” As the title on the pic clearly states that is the “Balinese version of Mother Saraswati.” The Balinese (or Indonesian) Hindus follow the same scriptures as the Hindus elsewhere, however with some modifications to suit their culture. Also Hinduism there is as old as it is in India. So in some cases It is in its more pure form there, since it is untainted b y attacks and onslaughts by other cultures. Eg. there is no casteism amongst Indonesian HIndus – they dont even know that it exists. They never had any exploiting Brahminical community or any despotic king fo rthat matter. Women would worship freely. So although this form of the MOther appears modern to us, this is her age old form worshiped in Indonesia. Since she is wearing a ‘sarong’ (the Mongolian version of ‘mekhola’) which is akin to the Indian ‘mekhola’ worn in the North East, it is a smart dress, so it is looking western. In Indonesia Hanuman is love-married. Their logic – how can such a masculine , yet gentle person like Hanuman possibly not get a woman? Good logic, hmm ? 🙄 Dear ‘Shani ‘- fan, i really dont know the connexion bet Shanidev and Braj-leela, but i’ll find out from a know-all mahatma with whom i discuss evrything under the sun ………….let u know soon………. 😉 😛
  8. Radhe Radhe! Hey, Hanumanji is no doubt—life long Brahmachari!! He said that even to his son…Makardhwaj (& u know how he was born…). Some people relate his tail to Gaurâ-ji (Pârvati) though…but married? I don’t think history should be changed by logic!!! God save them…there are many modifications in India itself…what to speak of elsewhere! FYI, Krishnera leelas start far beyond where logic ends! (& logic ends pretty before Brahmajyoti…)
  9. Maybe Hanuman is a brahmachari like Krishna is? Durvasa Muni can settle this dispute! 😉
  10. Radhe Radhe! No no! None in India can ever hope like that!! Hanuman is soooo simple that in the name of “Ram” ANYONE can take him under control…and yet by Ramji’s mercy even deadliest of mAyAvI asuras like Kala-naimi can’t cheat him! He’s simple but POWERFUL & hasn’t seen the face of defeat EVEN ONCE!!! He’s lover but firm as a premi-bhakta!! He’s honest but intelligent & clever more than any… And no, don’t think anyone can take him by love affairs…like Shyam…He is beautiful though but a monkey for sure!!! And his humility (of being a monkey) is enough to keep off all beauties within sadAchAric limits. Moreover like Shyam, he has no time…for he’s always rAm kAj karibe ko Atur…
  11. Radhe Radhe! Hanuman seems to be more strict in my definitions! At least the scriptures do not say…& he’s mentioned among ideals of Brahmacharya…
  12. Radhe Radhe ! Shaadi.com said – “Well, even Jambavan found a wife!” Yeah…….as all of u already know, its an open secret that i m all for ishq and ‘aashiqs’. 🙂 My best wishes for Indian Hanuman-ji !!!
  13. Radhe Radhe! Hope for the best! He won’t come online to register @Shaadi.com… He won’t do anything without Ram-ji’s order…u know…!
