Shyam or Shiv ?

When Sri Radha went into a maan, Sri Krishna resorted to the only optiona He had, that is, to impersonate as Lord Shiv. He went to Ishwari, begging for alms.

“boroi chatur mor kaano,

sadhan binohi bhaangolo majhu maan.

jogi besh dhori aolo aj,

ke iho samujhobo apurabo kaaj.

saas bachan ham bheekh loi gelo,

majhu mukh heroito godo godo bhelo.

koho tobo maano-ratano doho moi,

samajholo tobo hamo sukopoto soy.

je kichhu koyolo tobo kohoito laaj,

koi naa janolo nagaro raaj.

bidyapati koho sundari raai,

kiye tuhu samujhabi se chaturaai.”

Meaning –  Srimati narrated to Her sakhi – “Oh how clever is my Kanha ! He broke my maan so easily without any pain at all ! Do you know what He did? Today He cam eto me dressed as  a yogi. Who would ever recognize Him ? His disguise was so perfect, I tell you !

My mother-in-law too was so taken up with Him that she ordered me to come and give Him alms. As soon as He saw me, He couldn’t resist any more and His voice got choked. He said with tears welling up in His eyes – please give me your maan as alms !

At that very moment I realized that He was That Supreme Cheat !!!

And after that………I am so embarrassed to tell you……all that HE did……….and no one came to know that He was that same Chief of all Lovers !!!

Poet Vidyapati says – O beautiful Raai, how can You even conceive of His unlimited tricks ?”
