Listen O Beauty !!

Listen, O Beauty !

Meaning

When Laadliji was in a maan, Kanhaiyaaji sent  dooti (messenger-sakhi) to make peace. She approached Her and said –

Listen, just listen to me, O beautiful girl ! How much more mân will You do?

Kaanu has gone mad thinking baskets and baskets about You all night and day !

What magic-ras have You cast over Him that He has forgotten everything and is immersed only in Your meditation ?

If any passer-by merely utters “Radha” He gets agitated. All the devotees chant His Holy Name so that they may cross the material ocean and they seek refuge of the sacred feet of Gopa-sut (Sri Krishna) ; yet look at Him ! That very same Sri Hari, engulfed by Your love, forever chants Your name.

I know You have a secret desire to murder men; has no one taught You any morality? Poet Gyâna dâs says – O Râdhe ! Kânu’s heart churns whenever He thinks of Your love.

  1. Radhe Radhe! So where does He put in every basket full of thoughts about Her? 😀
  2. “I know you have a secret desire to murder men.” 😯 !! I would have liked this line better if the poet should have said ‘him’ instead of ‘men’. Its one thing to murder just any man. But to murder Krishna! Wow, only Radha… 😎
  3. Radhe Radhe Sunita. The picture is actually a double bed’s sheet. It is a cloth on which the painting is made using the ‘batik’ process. i still can’t figure out how they did it using this process, since i have a fair idea about most artistic methods. All i can say is – ” Hats off !! and JAY RADHE !!”
  4. Radhe Radhe Sunita. The ambassadress is using the word “men” to make Her feel the most guilty – as much as possible. Had she said “Krishna” – just now Swamini is in such a murderous mood, that She would have become jubilant at the news. Really, there are times She flies into sucha rage She could kill Him……..of course, not actually 🙂 Doesn’t it happen with sweethearts ? Then she starts ripping all the flower bouquets from inside the kunja, and flings them one by one at His head. Can u picture Him trying to advance and dodge them simultaenously? And She is pretty good aim too 🙂 so the sakhi is saying “men” to make Her feel real bad. Swamini would not mind murdering Krishna but not all men, u c? So that folks don’t get a wrong idea abt Her, She might consider giving up Her love-anger. That is the intention.
  5. Acha! Great explanation, now everything is clear – thanks! I think that perhaps Radharani should not rip the flowers but leave the garland whole and use it like a whip. That way she would get a more effective tool. Or, since She is a good aim, I hope She goes for Krishna’s eyes: Bombarding Krishna in the eyes would have Him blinded by petals, lose His direction and go wondering perhaps bumping into a tree. Serves Him right. 😆 You see, I read once in one of Ananta Das Babaji’s works (which translation I don’t know at the moment), where it is described a water sports between Krshna and Radha and Her friends. Krishna splashes so much water in Her eyes that she becomes blind an He “wins” the game. But He cheated!
